Region 2-AA Tournament thoughts?

District finals didn't happen for most districts in this area. CAK catholic may have been the only district finals played. Certainly unusual circumstances. Today wasn't a safe option either. Only games scheduled for today have now been canceled. Best advice for all teams is one game at a time. 4 teams teams have a realistic chance to win it. 2 others have an outside chance.

AE beat Catholic by 5 with out Jordan Anderson (16ppg) and beat Catholic by 2 without Luke Smith (18ppg) The second game with AE Catholic played Webb and at Maryville (the night before the AE game) in the same week. So hard to gauge those games when you're 2 leading scorers miss. It is what it is though the Irish did lose both.

As far as I know Luke Smith isn't playing. His doctor removed the cast but he hasnt been cleared to play. I saw the region schedule it appears the deepest or best conditioned team has the upper hand. Mother Nature sure had her way on this one lol. Edited February 22, 2015 by QSouth89

I think district 4 AA will have a big advantage because they played on Friday. 3 AA hasn't played in 10 days. May not have even got to practice much. Take Carter and Gatlinburg. Both are in rural areas. It is questionable whether they have been able to get a full team in the gym due to bad roads.

This late in the year after having played 25-30 games some probably welcome the chance to rest tired legs. May or may not be a factor.

Agree CAK will take care of AE. Not so sure bout Catholic over GP. Looking at schedules I found that AE beat Catholic twice. GP beat AE twice. Based on that I would say GP is the favorite.

 

Carter beat Alcoa by 20+ a couple of weeks ago. Game will be closer. But Carter with two D I players who can score 50 they should win. But as in all region games it won't be easy

 

Based on records Fulton should beat Kingston. But I predict Kingston will challenge the Falcons and margin will be less than 10.

 

Semis Carter rolls over CAK. Best team in town. And rember only lost to Fulton due to their generous spirit. Won't be in giving mood vs CAK

 

Fulton and GP. This is a pick em. Fulton will over look GP looking to avenage their moral defeat to Carter earlier in the year. Fulton wins but don't be surprise if GP pulls off a shocker.

 

Finals. No doubt Carter. Only lost Fulton because of injuries and a gift. By far best team in Region. This game will be decided by half time. Carter will score 100+ and gift Fulton 75.

I know you hate fulton because of football lol and I apologize. But some of the comments you say are absurd. For one carter had the 2 best players in town when they got drubbed at fulton. Secondly they didn't hand us the game their play style allows for teams to make runs if shots are falling. You really think we would overlook a team in a win or go home game?? Not just over looking them because they are inferior but over looking them for a team we beat twice? That logic sounds a little off to me. I would not be surprised at anything happening at the region tournament nothing is a lock.

Once again Fulton fans leave out key points....at Fulton Carter's pg did not play...was out with a concussion which made a huge difference and Bowden played a grand total of 5 min the whole game before fouling out so he was a non-factor. Last time I checked I mentioned red and black not uptempo. He's the one who said carter had the TWO best players in the area Kelvin Jackson and Jordan Bowden if I'm not mistaken both played when they lost to fulton right? Ok then and whats the excuse for the 2nd loss? And if no one cared you wouldn't have commented so obviously you care. It's ok carter is our little brother when it comes to basketball I still don't even look at you guys as a rivalry. Every now and then you guys get a really good team and start pounding your chest. For your sake I really hope yall get to state this season because we all know that it's going to be a big drop off next season. I don't know what I did to you but you always come at me on the board. You must really have some deep seeded hate for fulton.

The layoff for the other district might not hurt until playing back-to-back Tues and Weds and then especially Thurs. 10 days off is a long time and then trying to play two or three in a row.

 

First games on Tues the legs should be fine, it's Weds and Thurs where it could be a factor.
