Tab
It happens more than anyone wants to admit. So the TSSAA should take the top 3 in each district to the regionals. I know it will cost the TSSAA 2 games but if a team loses 2 games in a row you should not be rewarded with another game.
maroonandgray
I agree but it would never happen. TSSAA would lose money!!
crazzyness
1. I WOULD like to see only the top 3 advance from districts. 2. The best way to not lose on purpose is to have INTEGRITY and get rid of coaches who's only goal is winning at all cost and hire more coaches who's main priority is giving back to the kids and setting a good example. Good things happen to people who do the right things FOR THE RIGHT REASONS. Lets have alittle acountability, and not be the speeder who blames the speed limit for him getting a ticket
Gerry Bertier
How about coaches and players do the right thing? How hard is that? No one wants to take personal responsibility.
toinemac
How about coaches and players do the right thing? How hard is that? No one wants to take personal responsibility. This would be the ideal solution but I have never understood why a team that goes 1-2 in the district tournament deserves to move on. Baseball, softball, boys' soccer, and girls' soccer only take the top two. The only reason to have a consolation game and take a 3rd and/or 4th place team to the region is to generate more revenue for the TSSAA with all those extra games. Period. Pure and simple. From an equity standpoint, there is absolutely zero reason to take more than two teams.

Plus,.the spring sports have a window of about 10 weeks to play a full regular season, district, region, sub-state, then state, so you have to make up time somewhere, so natuarally the post season is where it will be taken out. In the other hand, basketball has 4 months to play with.
Dragon Tale
I have seen teams finish 4th in district tournament and advance to the state....'91 Clinton Lady Dragons for one and I believe the Maryville Boys did it when they won the state. There is nothing wrong with the format. Have some pride and play to win!
ScottR77
The only sure way to stop this is to take away the ability to lose.
DCTIGERFAN
This is all pure old greed by the TSSAA and that Childress man.
Indian
Please. There have been four teams advancing to the region for decades.
