Not an opening day game but Farragut plays 3 teams ranked in the top 10 in the nation in the first 2 weeks of the season & 7 teams ranked in the top 20 in the first 3 weeks of the season. This is why you can't let overall records fool you. Dobyns Bennet will 35-2 or something like that & be ranked #1 & will not make it out of region.

Don't want to rain on any parades but there will be no good opening games, or at least not any that really mean anything due to the fact a lot of these kids haven't even been on a baseball field. I'm thinking it will be a couple of ugly weeks of baseball -----IF the weather is good.

Summertown A vrs Lawrence County AAA always adds fuel to the County rivalry. They split games last season when Summertown run ruled them in Lawrenceburg. Should be a good test for Summertown.

Tuesday Summertown A vrs Spring Hill AA. Spring Hill has a solid baseball program and after these two games Summertown will have been tested early. Should see how the pitching staff can perform against two solid hitting teams.

Riverdale opens at nationally ranked Pelham and will face Alabama commit Sam Finnerty. On Tuesday Warriors travel to Hoover with LSU signee Caleb Gilbert on the mound.

It appears as if Riverdale has their hands full the first two games.

I'm not even sure the pitchers will fare well. There's a lot of difference in throwing mounds and flat grounds vs. live batters. I think it will be ugly overall. Walks and small ball may be the way to win in the first couple of weeks. And the weather forecast for this week is terrible. Lord, we are thankful for not living in a drought area, but could you please send some of this water to them.

    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
    • I heard Alabama was at Antioch practice and Colorado has offered QB. Hoping the Bears have a great year.
