5. Notre Dame (12-2 in 2014, lost in semifinals of 3A playoffs)

As one of the winningest programs in the area over the past three years, Notre Dame will look to make steady improvements moving further into the tenure of Head Coach Charles Fant.

Despite having seven players last season ink scholarships to play on Saturdays, the Irish look to have no shortage of talent entering into 2015. Quarterback Alex Darras returns after a stellar junior campaign (1,915 yards, 33 touchdowns, and just six interceptions) and looks to cement his mark on this years Irish squad.

The question remains, however, who does Darras throw to?

A year after loosing a 1000+ yard receiver in Kareem Orr (Arizona State) and a 1000+ yard rusher in Auston Banks (Kennesaw State), the Irish look to reload with a young crop of talented players. Look for running back Ricky Ballard to step up on both sides of the ball, taking the majority of snaps at running back as well as defensive back.

In addition to Ballard, tight end Patrick Johnson may be a wild card in the Irish offense after showing glimpses of athleticism last season. Playing in one of the only systems in the area that utilize a tight end, Johnson is a match-up nightmare and could become one of  Darras' favorite targets.

Linebacker Tyler Enos returns after leading his team in tackles last season, and has been seen in 7-on-7 competition working on the offensive side of the ball in addition to his role on the defense.

QB Alex Darras (15) and OL/DL Robert Murphy (63)

Enos is a sure tackler that does not shy away from contact, something that Notre Dame thrived on last season, limiting opponents to a combined 128 points while recording three shutouts.

A strong presence along the offensive and defensive lines could make the difference for the Irish moving forward. Senior Robert Murphy looks to lead the way for the Irish in the trenches, and has the speed and ability at his defensive end position to pressure the quarterback and disrupt the line of scrimmage.

Notre Dame is quickly becoming one of the premier programs in the area. They have won at least nine games in the past three years, and were one step away from a State Championship birth last season.

This year could prove to be the year of the Irish, but only time and talent will tell.
