no but they did two years ago when Meigs was playing for the state championship game and beat booker t Washington out of Memphis and Columbia academy to get there with all these kids getting substantial minutes and 3 of em starting. And they lost to a very good Hampton team in substate last year. And they will be back in state again this year. So worry about your team that is very average. This team is 29-4 that's pretty dang good if you ask me. So you my friend can keep on hating while Meigs keeps on dominating. D-3 will have two teams in the state tournament.

I didn't say that I was simply stating factual information about this average/decent Meigs team. 😜

I think Harriman has some great players. I really enjoy watching the Pace kid. He is a baller through and through. I've learned to never count chickens before they hatch. Kids are kids and come tourney time you just never know what's going to happen. Wins come one at a time.

yes I agree. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the game of basketball and Meigs plays the best at this level around here. I enjoy watching Zy and Meadows play. There are still some really good players in this district, it's just not as loaded team wise as it was a few years back. I hope D3 does send two teams to state and that they both do well there. I'm just saying they're playing a different brand of basketball out west compared to what we're used to seeing. gotta take it game by game to get there though

i agree on some points but as far as single a basketball isn't much different out there besides Memphis Mitchell. And maybe booker t this year. Memphis is always loaded. I just hope Harriman doesn't ruin it for us in the semis. Because they definitely have the talent.

I ran into some Bulldogs last night checking out the games. I usually get up there to watch them a little. I only saw them at Harriman in the tourney before Jones came back. I sure hope Meigs and Hampton stay in their own gyms this year if both make it that far along.

Yeah thats the way we want it also. But really neither is a lock. You always have some strange upsets this time of year. Hampton should host a sub state game but regardless of who comes up here, I expect to have both hand full.

say what you want, be as cocky as you want, but the fact of the matter is you're a decent to average team playing in a district isn't near as strong as it's been in the last decade. Rockwood and Midway both are way down, Harriman, yes harriman, is average to subpar, and this dang sure isn't the best Grace team I've ever seen. And if you win the region and run your mouth about that, then we'll talk region. When is the last time Oneida won as few games as they did? OS struggled, Sunbright struggled, Wartburg isn't the most talented but very well coached, and Oakdale has a decent team. Congratulations you put together what you feel is a world beating team in a down time of the region. You'll surely find that out if you make it to state.

Never said Meigs was world beaters, but they are one of the best single A schools this side of Nashville! To call the "decent to average" is laughable! When I mention a Meigs over Harriman matchup I am not being cocky, I am going with the facts of past history as well as making predictions! Since Meigs joined 3A Harriman is 0-7 against Meigs , playing them to a 10 margin one time and losing by 20+ the other 6 , so if Meigs is "average" how do you view your Harriman squad? I would be a lot more concerned with getting past Wartburg right now if I was a Harriman fan, and if that happens ,which I hope it does, then that will be the end of the rd, again this is just my prediction ,I base my predictions off of what I have seen this season and I just think that Harriman does not have the horses to play within 10 of Meigs. If Meigs wins Region , I will not be discussing it with you due to Harriman no longer being in the picture, due to the "not very talented" Wartburg team beating them or the "average" Tigers ending there season! Good luck!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
