BarneySox2007
So I am hearing the Freshman won their game against Maryville tonight 49-7. Can anyone confirm? If so the future looks bright. I went to it and yes it was 49-7 Alcoa. Number 5,25,and 27 looks like good players for the future and the line was very big also. F5HallOfFamer
89 team still the best all around....including defense. IMHO the 2000 was the fastest in my opinion....not the biggest, but definitely the fastest

Tom142
2000 Defense was the fastest defense. Fastest everything actually. You had at least 3 backs and a QB who all ran at least in the 4.5-4.4 range, I believe alcoachamp might've been flirting with that 4.3 range. Most talented defense had to have been the '05 squad. Two of the best DE's in the country with Warren and Sykes, a D1 LB in Lindsey, and Sommer was one of the best in his class at corner. Add Love, Hicks, White, Lanxter, Walker, etc... '08 was my favorite. Beside T-Rob off the edge, really no huge stars. Sam Thompson led that defense, and was one of the smartest players to come through Alcoa. Such a great safety! '89, '01, '06-'10, and '12-present have all had great defenses, it's really hard to choose. As long as Nix is calling the shots well always have a great defense. JohnnyLawrence
The one thing in common on all of those championship teams was the fact that all those receivers could block so well in the run game. That is a lost art at Alcoa as of late. No pride there anymore, just want to catch balls
AlcoaBasketball
Due to unforeseen and sudden circumstances, I won't be able to make it to this one. Cheer loud for me Goons, and keep my spirit alive!!
AlcoaBasketball
Sad I couldn't make this one, but nevertheless Alcoa gets the W 38-0!
Tom142
Sounds like we really spread it around. McNear, Shereef, and Myers all had rushing scores. Matt McClurg hauled in a score from Myers, which is good to see him get some time at TE, and Woody took one to the house on what I'm assuming was a double pass from Clabough. Obviously the defense played lights out, halfway through the season and the first teamers have allowed only one score to teams not named Maryville. Pretty impressive. On to Lower Blount County to face a Heritage team who has been playing a little better the last few weeks. They have a couple of very shifty RB's and an experienced QB.
