There's only a little over a month left until spring practice. I'm hearing the Govs still have 90+ in workouts and they are working hard. I can't wait to see how the Govs look in spring scrimmages.

I remember how great they looked last year against the likes of powerhouse Cleveland! I believe that was the stepping stone that lead to such a great year for the GOVS! Good luck to the GOVS this coming season! I hope they can build upon the great success that was last season!

I'll go ahead and eat my crow now. I expected the Govs to be a lot better than they were last year. Mostly because I knew what kind of success Shad had at other schools, but the lack of conditioning and depth really got exposed in the 2nd half of games last year. The Govs dressed 48 players on Friday nights last year and Shad did not get the job until right before spring practice, so the old regime was in charge of the winter workouts. This year Shad has been over  the workouts and I saw some of the football players at the basketball games and a lot of those guys have definitely bulked up.  The Govs have 90+ in workouts (about double the number of players we had dressed last year) and Shad is wearing them out in the weight room. I'd say the Govs will be in a better position to compete for 4 Qtrs this year.

Shad is a master at getting a conditiong program that works in place... they will be able to play all 4 qtrs and have depth to boot..I know this will be a much better season. Go Govs!

Some of the boys have already made big gains in the weight room. I'm talking 15+ pounds of muscle. It will be interesting to see how much we improve this season. Edited by Governors91

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
