Bigskillet514
As a parent of a current high school wrestler, I was disappointed that the event did not take place last Sunday as planned, but to say either coach was running from the competition is the farthest thing from the truth. The event was set up two years ago and has taken place at Father Ryan for both years. Each year CBHS has taken at least 60-70 wrestlers along with another 70 parents and fans. Varsity and JV rode up on a 55 passenger coach and the middle school wrestlers were transported by their parents. The young men went to mass together and were given a small lunch after the competition. It was a nice way for both teams and clubs to kick off the season. On Thanksgiving Day coach Lewis gets a text from coach Simpson informing him that he will only be taking the varsity wrestlers plus a few extras. He knew the agreement and If I'm coach Lewis, I'm telling him to forget it! Some say it was miscommunication? I call it either poor organizational skills or a lack of respect for others. I know for a fact that CBHS had food ordered for 80 wrestlers and workers set up to help with the meal. Why couldn't the youth wrestlers have gotten rides with their parents? CBHS did it for two years! The varsity would have still been able to wrestle Arlington, stay the night, and the club kids could have driven down on Sunday. I'm hoping that both groups can get together and continue on with this event. It was pretty cool!

maj
I know, that purple holy water must not be what it used to be anymore. Seems like the Simpson and the football coach Lussiur are drinking the same stuff. I'm sure with in a year or two the wrestling program will be on par with Father Ryan's football program. Because both seem to have the same qualities.....scared of competition. You really need to mosey on home to Brokeback mountain

I talked to two NCW coaches and they were taking their team down Sunday morning and they were bringing many kids. I was also told that the Wave did not bring all of their team, mostly their better wrestlers last year. Also was told that Garrett was informed by an NCW coach Thanksgiving night that the match had been cancelled by Coach Lewis. Garrett was not even aware of this. TO338
CBHS has traveled youth, JV and varsity wrestlers to Father Ryan for the past two straight years. Why would they possibly want to cancel when it is finally coming home? Especially since they have the best team they've had since 2013. How bout setting that up for next year in Memphis the Thursday night before the Black Horse? Brother Martin could send their jv and it still be entertaining. Cowboy Pete seems to have most of the inside knowledge regarding this issue. Let's not forget that Simpson will be taking the Irish to Memphis later this year for both the Region Duals and Individual Region. I look for some fireworks to be shot off at both tournaments. Bad for the kids, and for TN HS wrestling.
