WC didn't play very well, too many missed tackles, missed blocks and dropped balls. Waverly came out and played hard, good group of kids. WC also missing a couple of starting lineman which hurt up front. WC also moved a lot of boys around and did a lot of rotating, coaches still got some battles going on as to who will start at a few positions

Scrimmages are a great time to develop depth and get the starting core group's timing down. You all will be fine. Waverly is supposed to be pretty good right? Don't they have several returned from last year?

We looked off the entire scrimmage but our passing game is going to be...UNSTOPPABLE!! Even if we played in 2A i dont think any teams could stop it, slow it down? Perhaps. But not stop it.

Now saying thay, we GOT ALOT TO WORK ON between now and August 19th if we are going to have the season we hope to have!

And yes Waverly is a preseason coaches Top 10 2A team this yr and wemt 9-1 last season during the regular season.

We play Giles County next on Friday. They are a 4A school that made the playoffs last season. 3 or 4 times the size of our lil 1A student body...it will give us a GREAT TEST!... Also 2001Bobcat, what kind of offense do you guys run? I know yall got the new coach last yr after Coach Walt was fired and i have no clue what he runs on O or on D...could you help me out?

Basically everything about our team changed when Walt left. We spread it out on offense. Our QB can really throw the ball down the field. He's a Jr and 6'3, 210lbs. We have some really good skill guys. Have looked really good in our 7v7 tournaments at Memphis and Tuscaloosa. We scrimmaged Stewarts Creek on Friday and looked okay. Honestly we are a bit undersized on D but swarm to the ball pretty good. Stewarts Creek mostly ran the ball so I'm looking forward to seeing how we play against a team that airs it out. We are also scrimmaging Ensworth Tuesday night. I'll let you know how that goes.

So last week scrimmage was good ole fashion kick in the butt. Ready to see what the team is made of. Is this team got any fire or are they going to lean on the days of winning the pee wee league? I'm hoping Rice has lit a fire this week in practice and hopefully we see some results in tomorrow's night scrimmage. To be the best, you have to prove each day, each practice, each scrimmage, each game. Let's see what happens!

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
