Ok, I've tried to not comment on this but I'll throw my two cent in.

The reason all these people are losing their jobs the fact that the incident was not reported to authorities at once!!! It's the law. It doesn't say when the tourney is over, it says immediately. That's it!!

Then the clean up and cover up that followed has only compounded the problems. There has been a culture of this at this school for a long time, apparently. There's been reports of it that were not dealt with properly, from the top down.

IMO, every school board, administration, and coaching staffs should use this case to educate and inform everyone involved with the school, even volunteer coaches, water boys, film crews, EVERYONE!! Mandatory you have to attend yearly, like the dead period, if you don't show, you can't be around the kids till you fulfill the class.

Because as horrible as this is, and if you think it couldn't happen at your school, or something like it, your living in a dream world. Oh, may as well include the athletes in these meetings so they understand that hazing in any form will not be tolerated, PERIOD.

Great post! It's unconscionable for a coach and the administration to finish the tournament and then report it!!! What kind of people are these?

What part is inaccurate ? The more info that dribbles out the WORSE everyone remotely involved looks. I heard enough once it was proven factual the team continued to play on as if nothing happened while a kid is in the hospital and law enforcement kept ignorant of the crime , to fire all the onsite personnel immediately. Haven't seen any reason to change my mind yet other than to expand the circle of those who should be unemployed.

Is that correct? I understood that the victim was taken to the hospital and it was reported there before his transfer to another hospital for a specialist and surgery. Which coach went with him to the hospital? Surely someone called 911 at the cabin, right?

All questions are fair. The outrage is 100% justified. The victims are 100% the young men (plural) who were violated and may have long term nightmares over this disaster.

The answer to the latest questions are:

1. Head Coach took the young man to the hospital, stayed with the victim while the team continued to play.

2. The decision to continue to play in Gatlinburg and the next week here in Chattanooga was not up to the head coach.

3. All of the upper level Adminstration were notified almost immediately and all collectively decided to continue playing.

My point is this: I know several of the involved personally and follow this area's teams closely. All of the involved are responsible in some way. From each Coach to the AD, to the Principal, to the Supt. all had the information and chose how to report, release information, answer questions and apply discipline. All of these individuals are responsible and permanently damaged (deservingly) for the rest of their career. My hope is we can move forward, blame all not one individual and understand that continuing this dialogue only prolongs the pain for all involved including the young men. Not everyone involved are bad people, but they have all made some very bad decisions. Let the justice system take it from here. Please.

    • They did a 10 play series deal instead of down and distance. LC scored twice but if it had been an actual game neither would have mattered because they turned over the ball twice with Sweetwater forcing fumbles both times. LC only scored on the 2nd stringers as well. Defense is looking solid and the offense has a good running back and receiver who did not play last year but made several great catches during the scrimmage, I believe the cats had some key pieces missing with baseball and track still being in season at the time. Considering the wildcats were matched up against a 5A school the cats held their own and forced multiple turnovers while also creating scoring opportunities against the LC defense.

I spent 27 years, faithfully in the United States Military. I don’t know if it was because I am Black or an easy target”
    • I don’t see any of them guys why leave programs to go there with no community backing or anything. Word up here on the hill is davy and veto into it over whose kid should be q b for jr high. Tough times in tc hope it all changes with a new face. And once again we aren’t giving up shoulders. And he doesn’t want that crap down there lol
    • They had the toughest bracket last year and no one said a word. You will never make everyone happy. Someone is always complaining.
    • Whoever gets hired I don’t think they will be there long, they’ll get ran out of town because they can’t win a tough region with a pee wee team.
