bwhite1965
The rumor is our RB is leaving. I have heard this one before and he stayed. We have lost some great student athletes over the past couple of years. I do not recall losing any to Whitwell, but we have lost two kids to South Pittsburg both football players(really great kids with great grades) The Sanders kid can play all sports and will be hard for anyone to handle; a couple of softball girls to Seq. one that hit a home run to beat our girls; 1 kid to Seq. in baseball/football (super kid with a great head on his shoulders and signed a scholarship); we just lost what would have been an incoming Freshman girls basketball player to Cannon County. This makes me sad for my alma mater at just how good we could have been had these kids stayed. I did approach one parent asking why are you moving and they said they would do what was best for their child and Grundy County was not it with the things happening. bwhite1965
I rode by the field house the other day, but I didn't see that many coaches. Did not look like many kids at all out there. They could have been working on drills and sometimes they go to the practice field, etc. I noticed on the TSSAA website and in the Herald that they were looking for coaches. RedHeadedTiger
One last question for tonight... Is it true your middle school programs are not TSSAA sanctioned? Do they have players that don't attend Grundy Schools? (Franklin,Coffee)
bwhite1965
I don't follow the Middle School as much as I would like. Going to a Big Eight Game makes me want to pull what hair I have left out!! Maybe someone else from Grundy can help you out there, Redheaded Tiger.
jackbacker2
Grundy County problem is people who join message boards within 5 minutes of each other and act as a Whitwell fan and Grundy fan and have a Q and A session that bashes a team. I dont see that on other threads. Doesnt matter who coach is, its nonstop bashing of Grundy by the people of Grundy and has been for quiet a spell. Im sure its difficult to win on the mountain with the support athletics gets from its own folks.
bwhite1965
I have always read coacht and now that I have a family member that goes to GCHS I am more concerned than ever about the student athletes. The problem with Grundy is not someone on a board bashing-I love Grundy, but just stating facts not sweeping things under the rug. Speaking about it doesn't matter who the coach is--it use to matter when the Bryants were there. You didn't have any trouble bashing them, but now that you coach it's not ok. I will always support Grundy and I have made my concerns to school board members about things that have gone on that should not go on. I want to see it get better, so I hope that it does! The two that played softball for Seq didn't play at Grundy their last school year there so they likely wouldn't have played anymore there had they stayed. That was leaving the team first before any switch.
bwhite1965
Thank you, Indian. I do not cover the girls sports as much as I need to. I did go to the district tourney, but that was it.

RedHeadedTiger
I dont coach, and its very obvious you are concerned. If you're one of the ones standing on the sideline, you're right you don't coach.
