Has there ever been an OW who was not champion ?

If Russo continues the domination he has all year, why not be considered MOW.??

Because most outstanding wrestler is for that tournament, not the whole year. Plus who would have said he would have won out. Is he a great wrestler? By all means, but not for this tournament. The coach who made the call to sit his wrestler effected that. Is it right? No, but this happens a lot more than people think. It is a big rise up because it is Russo who is a great kid and wrestler. It is a shame, but we need to get off the boat and also celebrate the people who made it to the finals and won state. His career is flawed to end, but colleges already know what type of man and hard working wrestler they are getting. If they decide not to pursue more if he is not committed then shame on them as well for being shallow.

You say this as if its the refs fault for DQ'ing him. He really didn't have a choice in the matter.

Sure one does.  They make the call, they have every choice in the world to make it or dont.  It is subjective to how they feel. One ref may call a slam one may not, one may see it as good hard wrestling one may not.  It is the refs choice to call or not call.

Sure it was the ref's choice to call the slam. It happens all the time. It wasn't, however, the ref's decision to disqualify Russo.

This discussion does bring up an interesting point... a few people have been critical of the official for the call in that match.

I will say that I saw video of the sequence in question.  Most people that know me know that I like good hard wrestling, however there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that an illegal move should have been called on that sequence.  It was absolutely a slam.  The official did absolutely what they should have done there.

The rest of the sequence... well I think most folks already have their opinion made up on that one.  I wasn't one of the parties involved and therefore in theory don't know everything... so my opinion really doesn't matter.  I doubt the state would be so up-at-arms had the entire sequence happened but a non-heavily favored wrestler been involved.
