EastTNfan20
Anyone who thinks PC is gonna beat SG needs a reality check. Lady Rebels are making their 28th trip to state, which is a record in any class. SG and Miss Basketball Finalist Taylor Lamb are a force to be reckoned with. They are going all the way this year after a loss by only 1 point to Middleton last year.
Rebel82
South Greene is stronger on defense and offense this year. Probably even more so on defense. This will be a good opportunity for Cutshaw to shine as defense is her forte. If they are able to put up the same type of defense as they did against North Greene in the Region championship they will do well. I'm really looking forward to this game. Pickett County plays in the best and toughest district in the state. While you may hold a record number of "appearances" we hold the record number of GOLD BALLS i.e. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS! No district in Class A comes close to the number of STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS than District 7A has. We have 22 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS vs your 28 state appearances. There have been 11 Gold Balls won by teams in this district over the past 15 years. You can add another "appearance" we'll be adding another Gold ball. Any more questions? GCPioneer
These are two teams I was looking forward to watching throughout the course of the week... Unfortunately, they play each other in the first round. Pickett is going to come with shooters... South Greene is going to come with arguably one of the top post players in Single A ball in Taylor Lamb. This should make for an interesting match-up! Any more questions?Very arguable that your district is the best in A THIS year. Outside of Jackson Co who you have stated before regressed as the season went on no one else in your district made any noise. I wouldn't say Grainger, Gatlinburg pittman, morristown west, Bearden,Greeneville, and Sullivan East are weak teams at all. You also know one of PC losses was against one of those so called weak east tn teams in Daniel Boone by 10 pts...... SG didn't move to A till 2013 so most of those appearances have been in AA Edited March 7, 2016 by Swipes

Okay sure. 3 of our losses are to AAA powerhouse Morristown West. We've beaten Grainger twice and they are also in the glasshouse this week. Also SG has knocked out GP twice this season. And we aren't talking about how strong our "districts" are Because that means nothing. It's about how strong the teams are and in that case SG wins over PC. Rebel82
If South Greene stuck to playing Class A teams in East TN you could make a very good argument that they play a weak schedule, but South Greene loads their schedule with competition. They made it to the championship game of the Ladies Classic which featured Mo West, Bearden, Greeneville, Smyrna, Mt. Juliet, etc. According to CoachT they have played the toughest schedule of any other Class A team at state. 3A argued they had the best District this year and we had no problem getting by them in the sectionals. We hear this argument every time we come to state. What confuses me the most is that Elizabethton seems to be getting respect in regards to their competiveness at state, yet they struggled in the post season with teams that we had already defeated TWICE. EastTNfan20
Why didn't South Greene and Ellizabethton play each other? Just curiousElizabethton canceled Morristown West and Jeff Co. They would not schedule SG if SG wanted them to.
baseball junkie
That's a VERY Bold prediction if you think they will win by 15+. Have you seen SG this year? 4 starters all got playing time at the glass house last year with 2 of them being starters and one being a freshamn all-state player and miss basketball finalist this year. Who I'm excited to see is the true freshman Wykle who on any given night can have 20+ points and was also named a freshman all American in volleyball. This year's team I believe is better than last year and have a little more depth. In their sectional game another freshman Franklin who comes off the bench had 21 pts and 13 reb. If PC wins it won't be because they played a tougher schedule either. Hey Swipes, is the Wykle girl, David Wykle's daughter?
Swipes
Hey Swipes, is the Wykle girl, David Wykle's daughter? Yes it's his youngest daughter, her sister also starts and the oldest graduated last year was all-state and played in 24 games this year for Carson Newman. bobcatfan#1
You thumped Livingston once and the other game was a 1 point win at home. I don't like comparing who beat who by more point because I could make a Daniel Boone argument since they beat yall by 10 but it's pointless to go around in circles. They also beat Pittman by 11 at their place later in the year, beat Grainger twice who is in the glass house in AA and 3 of their 4 losses come against Morristown West who also will be there in AAA. Coach T has SG schedule at 5 and Pickett Co at 51. Should be the best first round game in A. SG returns some starters from last year team that lost in the semis by 1 to Middleton so I think they will be ready. A pretty cool stat too this will be SG 28th time to the glass house. More than any other program for any classification in the state for womans basketball You are right. Pickett only beat LA by one at home...with 2 starters out. They won by 29 at Livingston. South Greene will be a very tough matchup. PC also lost to AAA Daniel Boone with 2 starters out after beating Dobyns Bennett by 18 1 1/2 hours earlier. I know facts don't count on here. They also lost to AAA Cookeville when they pretty much didn't show up.
