IDEA for State Tournament DRAW

Each of the 8 coaches in the state tournament RANK the other 7 teams (not there own) #1 thru #7 and then seed based on points.

Lowest points gets 1 seed, highest points get the 8th seed...

I think this would get the best matchups in the final each year.

IF you have 2 teams from the same region, then the lower rated team gets bumped whichever way needed to make it work.

This would allow coaches to attempt to set up the "easier" bracket.  I think more coaches would try voting to find a way to game this system than who they actually thought were in the correct order.

The blind draw is less than ideal, but I would prefer a system that puts each team on a level playing field than a system that would allow those with a vested interest to be choosing the bracket.

i like it. There are too many teams (& coaches) involved to really manipulate the system in that short of time. Especially since you don't vote for your own team. You could also have all 16 coaches rank before the Sectionals (sub-state) & then they definitely won't really be able to influence. Obviously, only the 8 teams that make it would be placed in the brackets after the 8 are determined.

As long as two teams from same region are separated, this would be slightly better.

Never like human error being put into rankings. What would happen if the 1 seed in your situation gets beat in the sub state would that move the team up? Were they really #1?

I would never be in favor of seeing a system where teams are ranked. The NCAA can't get it right and it is a multi-billion dollar business. No thanks! The best team will win the tournament. They are the champions. Nothing else really matters.

Exactly. I'd try ranking officials before teams. That way you get fairer games. Haha. Good luck with that also.

    • Hope the catcher on baseball team come back out and play's football . He didn't play last year if I remember but I don't remember much after that wreck anyways.. But he did play his freshman and soph years and I thought was a very good player. He's put on some size now, so I'm hoping he's thinking about playing again..
    • Pirates are young this year.  Gordy can sleep on them.
    • They’ll get it worked out eventually.Farragut is too good of a program to be down for long. As an OR fan, I can’t really say I’m too distraught about it though.
    • I didn’t even see that until you said something, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Yes, the coaches can’t get along with each other. But I don’t think they’re openly taking shots at each other right in front of the parents. If they are, that’s pitiful though, that’s really pitiful. I sure hope they’re not, but yeah, I’ve heard the same thing from players over at Farragut getting fed up, and I feel as though what the coaching staff has been trying to keep under the prying eyes of the parents is now out on full display.
    • and there is definitely a reason for that—more than just Catholic recruiting.
