Hendersonville will definitely be scary this year. I'm very impressed with their performance last night against Oakland.

I really can't believe how wide-open 5A is. Either Hendersonville, Cane Ridge, or Hillsboro could easily win Region 6...and on a statewide level, I think those three teams, Independence, Knoxville West, Oak Ridge, Henry County and Rhea County all have about an equal chance to bring home a gold ball. I haven't seen this much parity (with no true "favorite") in a long time.

...and those are just the ones everyone knows about. I'm sure there's a handful of sleepers and perhaps a Cinderella in there.

I would not count out Beech, Station Camp or Gallatin having a big say in this region. All 6 of those teams are going to be strong this year. This region will be tough to win and very battle tested come playoff time. Injuries could very well determine who wins this region and who advances. I will say it again, 2 good teams are not going to make the playoffs.

Beech is still looking for someone to step up, which they usually find. Station Camp is fast and athletic, but do they know how to win? Gallatin looks to be loaded with athletes, but will they come together?

Beech has a very good QB and they always seem to find a strong runningback. Station Camp has a plethora of skill guys, a good QB and the twin towers at the receiver positions. The big question is the line which I heard did very well against a huge Mt Juliet team last night. Gallatin will be a lot better than last year. They have the pieces to puzzle but they just have to assemble them the right way. It should be a very exciting year with a lot of hard hitting games.
