cardfan, I guess you skipped English class. McNairy may not win, but the Bobcats play by the rules. How many transfers do the Cardinals have on their team?  Your top three tailbacks are all transfers. I guess they just happened to all decide to move to damsville.

how come noone ever transfers in and to McNairy? we know why. Hard for you to believe but kids like winning and stability, of which you offer neither.

I believe you guys can go 5-5. I'm just saying that this game is a part of your 5 losses. And with the Scotts Hill game against Wayne County, the result of that Game could be a toss up with Scotts Hill and Trinity. Granite, it appears that Wayne County had cramping issue in their 2nd half. The fact is, your Lions can beat South Gibson, JCS and Halls. In a matter of fact, they should beat Gibson County and JCS. There's 2 wins. I'm not sold on South Gibson for one reason. They had a nail bitter with Obion Central. Obion Central beat Southside and Southside lost to Fayette-Ware. It's kind of bad that Fayette-Ware had to go to a Memphis region just to improve their ball club in terms of wins, however, I'm happy for those Wildcats. I believe your Lions can beat South Gibson. So there's 3. Halls, I know they're athletic, other than that, I don't know. If you beat them, there's 4.

With the game Saturday, I think everybody saw USJ's lost to FACS as an opportunity for TCA to beat USJ. With all the talk, everything in that game simply boils down to USJ made the plays and Trinity did not. That's all, it happens. I always tell students "You can go to your room and spend 50 hours preparing for an Algebra test, and when you take the test, you probably still don't know what you're doing. It happens. It's life."

You guys are young. However, I feel you guys are like 1-3 players away from being a pretty darn good ball club. Wish you guys have the running back from Bruceton (very underrated running back). If he was at Trinity, he would change the whole complexion of TCA Football. And someone else to add on. Maybe there's a guy out there on you middle school team that has the coaches impression of "we got something" or a Freshman that has that capability.

Other than the running back for the Lions, I just don't think you guys have the playmakers this year. No discredit, you guys are young. Every 1A/2A teams rebuild except for Adamsville and Union City. Look at what Peabody is doing this year. Dresden next year? Could be that same way.

I'll give you guys another touchdown. 35-14 will be my score. I will admit, been kind of harsh on you guys!

Outstanding post!!!

I heard we were down to an ankle. No more leg left!

Enjoyed our conversation this morning! Hope your meeting went well! I know the kids at TCA will fight hard this week! This has become one of the best rivalry's around here! Both teams give a 100% and leave it on the field! That is what happens when you have great coaches that teach their kids to respect your opponent!! Working midnights this week but hoping that I can make it Friday night! If not I will watch it online when I get up!! Both teams will make their schools proud! Would love some of that BBQ too! Goose & Johnny always draw a crowd with their's at our place!! Gotta love high school football!! Take care guys!! Time to head to work!!

Thanks UT! I'm confident Coach B will have the boys ready to fight hard. It's going to be a great battle. Hopefully our one legged boys can be competitve! You never know what could happen. Look me up and the BBQ nachos are on me! I might even buy the tree man some if he's nice to me! Ha

I've never seen your bunch so quiet. I can't help but think we are going to arrive Friday and meet your new player that you pulled from your band that is 6 6 weighs 235 and runs a 4.5 40.

Well, check out our camera guy. Seriously, he's 6'5" 350. He played last Spring and got banged up a little and said no more. Maybe we can recruit him by Friday!!

TCA took some lumps last week. They are rebuilding.

TCA is still well coached. Their players are always in position and play with good technique.

In the USJ game, TCA had defenders in the right places. USJ players made plays. There were no gimmes.

TCA has speed. They have at least three backs who can make plays on their own.

USJ has the best linemen in the country. He will be in every team's backfield every game this season. That makes it tough to execute any offense.

TCA doesn't have an identity on offense yet. But Coach Butler is the best high school coach I've seen at adapting his attack on the fly to his roster's strengths.

It's probably a 5-5 type year for TCA. But I fully expect TCA to pull off at least one upset before this season is over.

Will that be against Adamsville? Tough to say as I don't know what they have this year. But TCA will play and coach hard.

10 weeks is a long time for high schoolers -- over 1% of their lifespan. A lot can change in that time ;) Don't write the season off yet, TCA fans!

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
