crowd6424 ... Whitehaven is from the city of Memphis ... and more importantly ... it will be considered an 'urban school'. Urban schools, especially the ones from large cities, are all considered to be 'undisciplined'. They may have an abundance of talent, but It is the common belief that they are undisciplined. It permeates the subconscious mind of most who are not from that type of program, and it is, therefore, fact. It affects teams that are like Whitehaven that come from Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New Orleans, etc. Just go to the message boards and read and sift through the commentary and it will be abundantly clear. They are ALL undisciplined. Refs are human too ... so ergo, flags will fly.

 

Whitehaven has learned to 'deal with' the stigma and just play through it, regardless of the stereotype cast upon them. It's what you do to be a champion. It is what it is.

I have sensed this for many seasons in regards to "Urban Schools" even though I have watched many and they have done just fine. Pearl, Cane Ridge, Da Haven are to name a few and all 3 of these schools will go deep into the playoffs.
