Starting to get a good number of matches on the record for the 2016-17 season, and the team races are coming into focus a bit.  There will certainly be more changes in the coming weeks, as the season is still young, but following are the top teams right now according to RankWrestlers.com:

AAA: (1) Bradley Central, (2) Beech, (3) Tennessee, (4) Cleveland, (5) Knoxville Halls, (6) Wilson Central, (7) Blackman, (8) William Blount, (9) Summit, (10) Gibbs

A-AA: (1) Page, (2) Pigeon Forge, (3) Greenbrier, (4) Forrest, (5) Alco, (6) Hixson, (7) Greeneville, (8) Chattanooga Central, (9) Red Bank, (10) Sullivan East

DII: (1) Christian Brothers, (2) Father Ryan, (3) Mccallie School, (4) Montgomery Bell Academy, (5) Baylor School, (6) Nolensville, (7) Briarcrest Christian, (8) Brentwood Academy, (9) Weeb School of Knoxville, (10) Franklin Road Academy

Hello.  I'm not sure where these numbers and rankings come from, but Nolensville is a public school and should not be ranked.  We are just freshmen and sophomores and we are working to get better every day.  Someday I hope to be on one of these lists but this year is a stretch and to be ranked in private schools is an honor :)

Here's how it says the rankings work on the website. It's an interesting concept. It seems like it would be more accurate the later into the season it gets.

"How It Works

RankWrestlers is a subscription-based website. For $25 / year, you can see all the ranking information in every state. If you try it out for a year and decide not to renew, there is no automatic renewal. The information is taken directly from TrackWrestling. Most states / coaches are very good at providing most of the match information to TrackWrestling. In the rare case that you sign up and find that there is no / not very much information about you / your opponents, you are entitled to a full refund within 24 hours.

Obviously not all wins / losses are equal, so just comparing a wrestler's win percentage does not give an accurate indication of their performance. RankWrestlers considers multiple factors when ranking the wrestlers. All wins and losses are adjusted according to the type of win and the quality of the opponent. The average of the three highest adjusted win percentages of opponents that the wrestler defeated is listed under the column "3 best." A column title "H2H" makes head-to-head adjustments for matches between closely ranked opponents. If a lower ranked wrestler that is within fifteen percent in the total ranking defeats a higher-ranked wrestler, then the higher-ranked wrestler's ranking is reduced by half the difference and the lower ranked wrestler is raised by half the difference to move the winner of the contest in front of the loser. It is possible to have multiple head-to-head adjustments, though, so a different head-to-head adjustment could possibly leave the losing wrestler in front of the winning wrestler from an earlier adjustment.

The adjusted win percentage and top 3 wins are averaged, and the head-to-head adjustments are applied to determine the total ranking. The ranking will make the biggest improvement when a wrestler defeats tougher opponents, and it will drop more with losses to opponents with lower win percentages. A wrestler's ranking will also change as opponents wrestle more matches, because the opponent's adjusted win percentage is continuously updated throughout the entire season (as their record becomes more indicative of their strength), and the new opponent win percentages are applied to the wrestler's earlier wins / losses."

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
