It's a motion by McKenzie High out of West Tennessee. The motion was denied. It's a 120 schools in TN that does coop. Everybody numbers are different fluctuate from year to year. For some reason the major talk was about us"PC and MLK. It was reported we had 31 eligible MLK kids that cam play but in fact it's only 14 kids and 7 or play who start and losing 10 to graduation. Some years we have only had 5-8 MLK. The plan is ridiculous

Seven kids good enough to see the field at PC would be game changers for 95% of the schools in the state.

That's true on a 1a or 2a school but most Metropolitan schools don't have 1a 2a. Normally if they do they play up because of travel

I understand but you mention Mckenzie brought up the proposal. Mckenzie is 2a so there my be a concern there for them, their division or west Tn. Not really sure of the make up of the coop in the west.

who are the coop schools in 1 or 2a?

like I said really not sure. Just that Mckenzie is 2a and it must be a concern to them. Actually I do not care. I am a private that stayed D1. We have enough people that hate us because of that. We are a 1a enrollment and compete in 2a. You won't here complaints from me.

I don't understand why the population of both schools should not be combined because a school could potentially send a whole team to the receiving school and the receiving school still play down using only their population. I know the schools want to keep it as is and argue we only get 2 good players or only 5 start but it's a crock and another rule being exploited by some not all. But hey, that's true in most things from welfare, to taxes, to unemployment and everything in between-just don't like manipulators and takers.

I think that most who know how TCA operates respect them for that BigEdMo...the "problem" most have had with privates in DI stems from a very few schools who ruined it for the rest by manipulating their advantage. I know that a gold ball would be nice to have, but the administrators at TCA have not let that "blur the lines" of staying within the spirit of the rules in regard to recruiting student athletes. Same applies with co-op schools. It's good for the kids to be able to play sports not offered by their school, but the current rules do not restrict the acquisition of athletes from non participating schools...it won't be long before some program figures out that there's an easier path to a championship if you spend the time and effort to "acquire" the type of kids from other schools that will help their cause.

thanks Trader. We at TCA try to teach our kids to work hard for everything. God has given you the ability now use it for His glory and your good. I know the football program did not mind if we went D2. Coach Butler tells the boys to strap it up and bust the man in front of you. Does not matter D2, D1, 1a or 2a. We have always played schools much bigger than us. Region play and non region schedule. He believes it is setting the boys up to succeed in the future in any venture they choose to follow. As far as the gold ball TCA would love one. BUT they want to play the best and earn it. And they will not twist the rules for the sake of it. That is why we have so much respect for Scott's Hill. They have done it the right way. Hey even if no gold ball Scotts Hill is tops in my book. All I know is I look forward to spring practice and ready for some football. I have 2 more years and looking forward to every day of it. So bring on coop, open enrollment, D2 or D1. Spring scrimmage is against south Gibson D1 3a. Nothing like a punch in the mouth for scrimmage. 🥊🥊🥊🥊 Edited by BigEdMo

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
