As expected for a first scrimmage, there were moments of sloppiness by the Warriors.  But they also put together some sustained drives on offense and, with the exception of giving up a few long plays, the defense played well.  There were a few episodes of lax tackling.  The coaches are still trying to figure out the right mix in the secondary.  My suspicion is we saw only a very small part of the offense this evening.

An even bigger challenge looms next week when the MoWest Trojans visit CAK for a scrimmage.

Only one key player injury this evening I'm aware of so not too bad of a scrimmage injury-wise.

The scrimmage against Mo West was very encouraging.  The varsity units played to a 1-1 tie for about an hour.  The teams then moved to the side practice field for the JV guys to get some work; I wasn't able to stay and see how that went.  But for the Warrior varsity to play even with Mo West for an hour was very encouraging, especially without one of the key guys who was inactive for the scrimmage but will be ready for game 1.  (Varsity only had an hour because Trojans got stuck in rush hour traffic and arrived late, and there was a CAK middle school game set for 7 pm so the field had to be yielded for the younger guys' game.)

Mo West is predicted to be a top 10 team in their division, and they clearly have some very good players.  Their QB has a very strong arm and great size and mobility; the D1 offers he's received are not a fluke.  The Warriors were very competitive on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  Over the course of a full game, Mo West might have a slight edge in the trenches due to depth just because of the sheer difference in the size of the teams.

Warrior skill players overall played with more confidence than the Karns scrimmage.  QB had a very good scrimmage and is getting more noticeably comfortable and confident in the pocket with each opportunity.  RB's ran well but some are still learning assignments as there were a few busted plays; we can't have that during games when every play counts.  Still too many drops by the receiving corps, but it's usually like that this stage of the season and tends to improve over the first few games, and overall the receivers played well.

The Warrior D played well and I was pleasantly surprised to see them hold the Trojans to one score.  The one Mo West TD came on a longish run against a blend of 1's and 2's in the secondary and one defender who appeared to be out of position based on the offensive formation.

 Great info, thank you for taking the time. I have always been able to make it in the past but with some work changes have not been able to do so the scrimmage season.  Unfortunately I have a family obligation on Saturday and will most likely have to miss. I am hoping they broadcast  The Internet as they did last year. If so at least I will catch it on that.
