Polk County @ Copper Basin

It's back! Finally, the rivalry game that everyone in the county has wanted for years. Haven't heard much about CB yet, other than they are having difficulties finding a QB. Anyone have any more info on them? The Wildcats have looked much improved from the last couple of years in their first two scrimmages. Seem to have more speed and that aggressiveness back. I'm sure the county will be shut down on the 18th, because everyone will be at Copper Basin for this one. Can't wait! Go Wildcats!

After watching the scrimmage last night CB will not want any of this Polk squad! Most enthusiasm I've seen from the team in a long time. Not afraid to hit Walker Valley wr's were getting skittish going across the middle against these boys. Early prediction Polk 40- CB 7 with coach pulling the starters mid 3rd.

I agree 100% with your observation of the scrimmage last night. That defense is flat out nasty when they get to the ball. The o line got down and dirty with WV's defensive front, and the WV defenders didn't want to get in front of the PC running backs. I'm so excited to watch this team this season if they play like that all the time! Go Wildcats!

When did the two teams last play?  I hadn't thought of it until reading this post, but I don't recall them ever playing.

Is Derrick Davis still the coach?  I met him one time when I was checking out the new stadium.  Really a nice guy.  Glad to see them doing well and hope they have a big season.

I think the last time they played each other was 2004. CB dropped Polk the following year. Yes, Coach Davis is still the head coach. His staff has changed a good bit, but his dad still helps. Coach Davis is a great dude and great coach. He and his staff are first class! Go Wildcats!

    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
