Goodpasture comes to Grace struggling this year with a 1-9 record. Wasn’t it just a few years ago that they were going deep every year in DI? What happened or was there a change of focus at the school?

Last year they made it to the 3rd round and lost to CPA in OT.  It was a great game. They were senior heavy with some very good playmakers. Prior to last year they had a 20 something game losing streak.

Goodpasture lost a bunch of seniors who last year scored 40 of the 47 total TD scored last year.  These seniors from last year are now playing on Saturdays at Navy, Cornell, Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech.  The Cougars have a younger team of Sophomore and Juniors this year with 8 seniors I believe.

Also worth mentioning, Goodpasture had a tough schedule this year with the 3 of the teams they played this year went undefeated during the season (Friendship Christian, Davidson Academy, & South Pitt) as well as 2 teams that are 9-1 (Briarcrest & BGA).  This year the Goodpasture's opponents combined win loss record is 74-26 compared to Grace Christian with 47-42.
If Grace continues to pass the ball well it may be a long night for the Cougars.  Goodpasture can win this game but this year they have been a turnover machine with lots of stupid penalties that have killed many drives this year.  Grace on paper should win easily but I would not overlook the Cougars.

My 2 Cents which is probably what it is worth.

That's all I needed to see. Our opponent will come in confident, experienced against quality teams. We CANNOT LOOK PAST THIS GAME!!! Time to start talking these teenagers into NOT paying one bit of attention to the 1-9 record, or we'll be watching a replay of the TKA game. We've come too far getting better each week on defense and offense to drop our focus in this one.

I'm looking forward to hosting Goodpasture. Always cool to have new programs make a visit to Jerry Disney Sports Complex.

Although FC, Davidson and South Pitt have had very good teams they aren't quite on the level of GCA  when GCA is playing focused. GCA has shown they can play with Alcoa, Webb, and Notre Dame for at least a half to three quarters when focused. They have also shown when not focused they can lose to a much weaker opponent (Kings Academy). If GCA and King's played again they would most certainty beat Kings by a couple scores at least.

I think GCA is better than the three teams you mentioned. However, Briarcrest and BGA are defiantly solid teams. I'm not sure the scores of those games with Goodpasture but if they played those schools close then GCA better come out focused.

    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
