Webb at CPA (Quarterfinals)

Here we go. The Webb Spartans will travel to the mighty CPA Lions and try to pull the upset. Webb has been playing better ball as of late and had everyone healthy until last night. May be missing a key player against CPA but I won't confirm until it is a fact.

Both teams have played tough competition and a mutual opponent, Ensworth. CPA beat Ensworth 21-20 in OT. Webb lost to Ensworth 35-14. If you are a bottom line type of guy comparing scores you will say CPA wins this easily. If you look at each particular game Ensworth had 6 or 7 turnovers which really played a big role in losing to the Lions, Webb had a chance to tie with 6 minutes left in the game down 14-21 but were stopped and Ensworth added two scores in the last 6 minutes of the game.

It's high school football anything can happen (as we saw last night when Baylor avenged and early season loss to Ensworth. The favorite is defiantly CPA with their 90+ players compared to Webb's 45ish. Can Webb keep this game close or is this an easy win for CPA?

Not that it matters, but I believe Ensworth had 4 fumbles and CPA had 3.  It was a very physical game.  I don’t recall any interceptions. CPA had drove the ball to the 3 and 18 in the first quarter and didn’t score which I felt would prove costly but we still got the win.

I have not counted but I don’t believe CPA has 90 on the sideline, most Freshmen don’t dress out.

I’m tired of wet football games, let’s hope for a few sunny days at the end of next week.

I know the CPA players and staff have a lot of respect for the athletes for Webb.  I like the Ernst / Patterson showdown. It should be a good game.

I hate to hear about the injury, I hope at least he’s not a senior. I believe one of our seniors is done for the year with surgery this week, another couple didn’t dress last night, and a couple other were back in uniform but didn’t play. I hate to see seniors miss the opportunity to play in what could be their last game.

Are you going to make the trip to the Den?

I watched the game just last week and Ensworth had 6 turnovers. Regardless CPA got the win which means they have a darn good team. I'm worried but yes I'll be in attendance next week. Any good places to eat near campus?

You'll exit off I-65 @ Old Hickory Blvd (Exit 74-west).  There are several places on Franklin Road (left at the first light) along with a few places in Brentwood as you drive along OHB.  If you get to where the road gets down to two lanes, there is literally nothing from there to the CPA campus, all residential.  What'ca looking for?  We got Italian, Mexican, burgers, pizza, Chick-Fil-A, BBQ, etc., along the Franklin Road drive.  Good little Mexican place behind the post office, Mazatlan 116 Wilson Pike Circle 37027 if you're looking for Mexican and something non-chain.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
