The AD stated in the newspaper that they wanted a person who was 75% teacher and 25% football coach.  Not a very good comment about the hire and it shows how much the administration cares about footba

I doubt they would do away with the programs.  These counties are dealing with so much from the top down that they are not putting a priority on hiring a new coach.  People who do not know football think you can come straight in and change everything overnight.  If they hire a solid coach it will take years to right the ship.

The weight room is full now under the direction of interim coach, Mike Atwood and assistant coach, John Robinson. Players are working hard  and getting stronger. The good news is 7-10 rising 9th graders are showing up regularly and working hard. There are also some new players who have "been walking the halls."

I know this doesn't answer all the questions about status of a head coach or number of players projected to be on roster but it's a snapshot.

Coach in waiting?  In other words......waiting on said coach to get his teaching license?  What coach in their right mind would want to walk into that situation and not have a say so of what they want to run.  Especially if the coach is a seasoned veteran.

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
