BCsportsfan
Alcoa signed up for two years for that Cumberland kickoff classic bowl in KY. Alcoa is scheduled to play a different team next season. They want Corbin Again!

Without their home brew Alcoa would have beat them by 3 TD's. During the 4 qtrs of regulation play Alcoa held Corbin to less than 100 yards of offense. But gained 157 yards from penalties. Most of that in the 4th quarter. I was sitting with Fans from Bell County and Knox Central KY......they told us goons the refs will give Corbin this game. This BEFORE the kickoff. They were right. That was the worst officiated game I have ever seen. When the Corbin QB was running the option and Alcoa's LB hit him as he pitched the ball and the ref called a 15 yard penalty,( I believe it was for hitting a defenseless player?!?) I was in disbelief. I've never seen that call at any level of football. So many bogus calls. I told the kids that life isn't fair , get use to it now its how you respond that matters. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. Don't ever leave a game in the refs hands by letting it be that close. This was an opportunity to see how you can deal with adversity. Don't make excuses, use this as fuel to get better. They did. I did have a friend from work that is from that area. He told me that gambling on HS games, especially BB, is a big deal up there. I didn't take him seriously before the game. But after....he may be on to something.

BUT,They will know going in, that they must over come a potentially biased officiating crew. sad.

I looked all over the TSSAA Website for any mention of the word gambling after a certain game a few years ago. If you don't acknowledge that it is a possibility, how can you mitigate it. Not sure if it was that or just serious home cooking, but that game was, especially the 4th quarter, like something out of a WWE script. After seeing a story about youth football gambling in Miami a few years back, I believe anything is possible.
