That post I quoted says that if the "worst and the weakest" play that makes basketball a socialist sport. When do those kids play? It should be as soon as the outcome is no longer in question, and most coaches do exactly that.

ballinup90
Coaches keep players in during blowouts for accolades, I'm sorry but it's the truth. There's no way a child is on a undefeated top ranked team and averages almost 30 points, without playing garbage time minutes for numbers for these type of awards. Let's be honest. I blame the integrity of the coaches and not the players or the opponents.

So you say let a kid play for stats instead of letting your bench play in blowouts? I don't think that yields everybody getting a trophy and not keeping score. I'm not for everybody getting a trophy and I am for players that are just that talented. If they get 25 or 30 in 3 qtrs, so be it, but if the clock is running, starters are sitting. That's selfish on the players part and the coach has no integrity or respect for the game if he allows it Edited January 31, 2018 by RealisticFan45

Do you think a child should be punished for being a good player, because the opposing player is not as good. So are you advocating for a team that gets 20 behind, to take out all their starters? Why even allow starters to play against a team they beat by more than 20 the first time they played? Why not just make the games, first to 20, then nobody loses by more than 20, and nobody gets their feelings hurt? Why do you want to punish good players, because your kids can't play? Do you want to draw the line on rebounds too? How many is too many, 8, 10? Steals? Assists? If your kid had a chance to set a school record, and the coach took them out, you people are the first ones to be running the coach out of town

Jesus, just let it go. I will give you credit though, you are a funny son of a gun. Makes me laugh every time you post something. Serious question though.... Do you wear a rainbow wig, red nose and clown shoes when you post? If you're gonna play the part at least put on the uniform. This thread is for AA Miss Basketball nominees. Give the thread back to those kids. Dishman, Levy and Lamb are three very deserving candidates and any of them would be great choices for Miss Basketball. You 2 or 3 people on here want them to sit half a game. People go to watch them, not to see your kid come off the bench with 3 minutes left. Everything I've posted is in defense of them, but you want to cut their playing time. If there is any clown on here, it's you for advocating cutting good players court time. Nobody will go to a game if they know that the best players will only be in the game for 1 1/2 quarters

ITS A TEAM SPORT!!!!!!!!! Everybody comes to practice everyday. The best players start and play but when it gets out of hand then coaches need to get his second bunch in and get them some minutes. If its about the team then develop your team not just one or two players. I see it every night, a coach plays his all star in blowouts to get her points. Whats going to happen when the other team decides to sub in and she hits the floor with an ACL tear up 35. ITS A TEAM SPORT!!!!! If your after scoring records then play AAU all summer and count every point you score even in practice NO ONE CARES.......... I say if you come to practice and you made a varsity team then you should get minutes. Because lets face it an injurt can happen at any time and if all you do is cater to your best player then what happens when she goes down. No one will be ready. Its ridiculous to even say leave them in in garbage time.

I'm not against scoring records or none of that, but I'm not for leaving a player in when the team is up 30 just for a record. It's not about punishment nor is it about feelings, it's about respecting the game and your opponent and have some integrity. Most decent coaches do pull starters when their getting blown out. Mm4vols, You ask do we punish the starters, seems to me that you punish the bench, who help everyday to get the starters ready. UTRok
In this area yes stats are more important. Player development is a distant 2nd with a lot of coaches.
