How would it be more fun? Part of high school athletics is putting yourself aside and be coached.

putting yourself aside and being coached is team sports regardless of level.

I think the kids would enjoy the game more with a shot clock. it would be more exciting. Just think how exciting a last second shot at the end of the quarter or game is and think about that happening over and over in a game as the clock shot expires. That is just one example.

plus in the flow of a game how many high school possessions actually last longer than 35 seconds. I have watched a ton of hoops and would guess probably less than 20% of offensive possessions go past 35 seconds. So a shot clock really wouldn't change the flow of the game as much as you might think.

After all has been said ... the question being asked is ... Is it necessary?

The question wasn’t about opinions on a shot clock. That has been debated a million times. The question was about how people felt about them holding the ball a whole quarter.  Not much of a strategy if you ask me. Hamilton beat them anyway and was going to beat them so what was accomplished? They didn’t get beat by 50?

The question I'm talking about is concerning the shot clock issue. It was asked if one is needed. I know the topic of this thread ... i'm not addressing that. I'm addressing the issue of whether or not a shot clock is necessary. Regardless of the Mitchell strategy.

Is it?

Yes. A shot clock is needed.

    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
    • Dorian Eskridge had a great Junior year, highlighted by a great game to lead HVA to an upset win at OR that year. I think that was 2010. In 2011 OR won at HVA. OR had a real good QB that year l think. Dorian Eskridge had a great senior year also. He always played hard from the DCM videos l saw.
