Are we talking about the same Dekalb that just got railed by Upperman and Stone?

Look buddy those teams had them  on the line. They were good really good. Dekalb was really bad. But there's not been one team they've played had better or more skill players. Dekalb needs D and O lineman bad. If they get just a couple in the off season watch out.

Didn't Cannon used to have some fair to good teams from the 60s-early 80's?

The 1967 team was really good and had the leading scorer in the state Tom Dillard at tailback. The 1969 team was ranked as high as  number two in the state and the 1970 team  only  gave    up 90 points with four shutouts. The 1973 team was I think 7-3 and the 1974 bunch was 10-0. From 1975- 1978 four really good teams in a row and then the next year they went from Class  A to AA and that was it. The 1985 bunch went to a bowl game and the 1995 and the 2009 to the playoffs

Didn’t Coach Mayfield start coaching in the 70’s?

Your completely delusional. Upperman certainly has better skill players. DeKalb doesn't have anyone even close to uhs running back. You don't put up 50 points consistently in the first half and not have good skill players.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
