I think the unit will be pretty strong and had a some fight in em honestly.  They were all sitting together on the sidelines so theres gotta be some chemistry there. 5 returning starters is nothing to shake a stick at

Chemistry is a good thing and I hope you're right but five returning starters didn't seem to do much for OR tonight. They better get it together.

5star Preps per Gaddis:

While Gaddis was hardly pleased with his team’s showing, he pointed out that Oak Ridge was blown out in similar fashion by Maryville a year ago in a preseason scrimmage.

“Last year it was practically the same thing,” said Gaddis.

“They were up 30-0 at halftime and 14 weeks later we were three points from (advancing to) the semifinals.

That give hope

I actually remember that and I'm sure Gaddis is wanting them to retain a little confidence in the wake of being demolished. But this beatdown felt a little different. This team isn't as good as last year's team, at least not yet. The secondary is awful and oline/dline just got annihilated.

Doesn't matter much. Just seems the Rebels like to talk a lot when putting a pounding on someone. But let the rolls Reverse, and its crickets

Yeah, well, until we do something about that then I don't blame them one bit. I didn't see any smack talk though. Willie asked for updates....Well, he (and we) got 'em, and a lot of 'em at that. Lol

Well time will tell pretty soon. Not sure how good HVA is this year.

Hey SS, I'm concerned that Gaddis, who must be well over 60, had more energy that any player on the entire OR team. I'm serious, that really is a problem.

Your right again.  Secondary seemed like they had guys behind them all night especially past middle of field. Seems like the coaches on defense aren't to good right now and need to get it fixed pronto. After seeing gaddis fired up tonight I feel sorry for Karns!

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
