I don't think my post said he was on the committee but if you don't think he was consulted on this then you know less about the program than you let on.  This sounds personal to me.  I personally think this is a great hire.

You’re probably right I don’t know as much as I know about the program, just seems odd to me that Ballard was a reference for only one coach that applied and that coach didn’t get the job but you’re right his input was used very heavily in the decision making

Well I know the exact 7 people that was on the hiring committee and Ballard wasn’t one of them but the good news is it took 2 years to get the right hire the last time a long time head coach stepped down

I’m not saying that at all, and I didn’t say zeller stepped down atleast I don’t think I did and if I did I apologize

And I was there as well during the transition but I was only there for one year of the transition

Then we definitely played together.  McCurry's first year was my Senior Year

How do you know that? Which candidate was he a reference for?

Hammonds was an excellent choice and hire.

I completely agree.

IMO, Jones comes with waaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much baggage. If you get sent out of Newport, there's no reason the be in Greeneville. Hope the best for him as he continues at HVA.

Baugh burnt too many bridges leaving. He also went 1-9 last year in what is left the old IMAC. Not too impressive.

Craney is too young at this point in time. Wouldn't mind seeing him come on as an assistant and gaining more experience.

I know Hammonds left too, but there there are some key points to make about that. #1. He came back and has been back. #2. If offered, who wouldn't leave to go work for a family member if asked for one year with the expectation to take over for that said family member when he leaves? Let me remind you, that the family member is a Hall of Famer.

Hammonds knows the staff and they know him. Hammonds knows the players and they know him. Hammonds knows the system and what it takes to win championships. He was and is the right choice!

Go Devils!

Bud as far as the schedule . They play at Powell, at science Hill at Daniel Boone at elizabethton at Sullivan East at Sullivan central. And at home against Austin East home against Union county home against Sullivan south and Home against Grainger. 6 road 4 home. This is not the correct order just off the top of my head

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
