Their best bet would be Steve Thompson...currently lives there...HOF nominated in MS...409-221 record...7 state tournaments...but they won't hire an old guy.

Why not? Seems the young guy didn't do that great.

They don't want someone like Steve Thompson that demands discipline from both the players and parents.  You want to know why the kids act like fools just knock on their front door and a fool will answer the door.

That might be the reason I said he wouldn't get the job...even if he wanted it.

sounds like there is a bad need for culture shift. Discipline can happen with today's kids and with today's parents. It does take a lot of effort for sure but it can happen.

It's difficult to make a shift in culture and  discipline when the people making the decisions do not wish to have any discipline in their personal or professional life's.

Hearing the assistant is under real consideration here.

2018-19     10-18     4-10

2017-18     13-18     6-8

2016-17     13-13      7-7

2015-16      12-15     4-10

2014-15      5-20       2-12

Why would anyone consider the assistant coach when he was a major part of a program that has not had a winning record in over five (5) seasons?  The program is in desperate need of new blood and major dose of discipline.  It's time to clean house and that includes both coaches and probably a few of the players that don't have a good attitude and are unwilling to work hard.

Is this why Troy Bond left? Just curious...I don't know him or his situation that well but I know he pretty much started the program and had great success.

    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
