TCA hosts South Gibson.......Official Thread

This Friday, the TCA Lions (D2-A 1-0) host South Gibson(D1-AAA 1-0). This will be the only game this season that TCA plays a public school. Both teams are coming off 2018 seasons in which they were 6-6. Each team made the D1 playoffs in their respective classes and both fell in the second round of the playoffs.

South Gibson will have a definite size advantage in this game, both on the field and with the size of the rosters. South Gibson will feature a wing-t type offense with a couple of quality runners and a big offensive line. TCA will feature the spread formation. In a break from TCA tradition, they used the spread offense to ground and pound their opponent from last week. Three different TCA backs combined for over 300 yards of rushing offense.

I figure that South Gibson will try and use their size advantage to wear down a smaller TCA team on both sides of the ball and utilize a misdirection running attack on the offensive side. Look for TCA to again try and run the ball in this game. However, I believe if TCA is to be successful they will have to develop some other options that are at their disposal.

Looking for a large crowd at this game. If you can't attend the game in person, there will be exclusive radio coverage on Fox Sports Jackson 105.3. Audio streaming will be available at http://www.foxsportsjackson.com . You can also a listen to the game on your cell phone by calling a 605-468-5762. TCA Live video coverage of this game will come from an association of the TCA video Club and Fox Sports Jackson 105.3. That link is available at http://www.tcalions.com/live .Radio coverage will begin at 6:30 p.m. with video coverage commencing just before kickoff. TCA's veteran broadcast team of Dave McCulley and Stan Gerard will have both the radio and video call for the TCA coverage of this game.

Reitz this game is a mismatch on several levels. Team roster, size etc!!!  BUT SG has had let down games every year. Maybe they will over look little ole lions. Curious to see how the progresses.

Oh, I agree completely. Perhaps this will be one of their let down games. It will be interesting to see how the offense is tweeked this week. I'm sure that we will not show everything this week with a region game coming in week 3 against our rivals over on McClellen Road at our house.

Coach Stidham’s son is the qb at South Gibson. Don’t let that wing-t offense fool ya. Kid had a big night throwing the ball last week against Lexington. Kid can chunk it.

I am Friends with Stidham. His boy is a very good athlete and smart.  That will be the hard part Friday is being ready for those pass attempts.
