I think a lot of people believe this is going to be a blow out by Haywood. I do not agree. I think it is within 2 scores. I will pick Haywood in the contest but do not expect Crockett to lay down. They are vastly improved and will make Haywood earn it.

I don’t see Crockett laying down. They never do

This will be the 16th meeting between the Cats (6-1) and Cavs (4-3).  Crockett Co. leads the series 8-7.   A victory by Haywood would tie the series.  But, more importantly, a Haywood victory would assure the Tomcats the Region 7-4A championship.

Common opponents are Ripley and South Gibson.  Haywood defeated South Gibson 50-49 and Ripley 42-7, while Crockett Co. defeated Ripley 42-21 and lost to South Gibson 21-14.

The two teams always play each other tough, so I expect it to be a close hard fought game.

Haywood and Dyersburg was close, idk if Dyersburg ran their offense that well or Haywood turned the ball over to help the Trojans cause. Crockett runs a similar offense to that one, but if Haywood plays a clean offensive game I see them taking this one by 3 scores

We turned the ball over 4 times against Dyersburg and they turned it over. 5 times it was sloppy both ways

Everything says that Haywood County should be favored in this game. However, I have a gut feeling that this could be a trap game for Haywood County. I think that they will have to play extremely well to beat the Cavaliers. I'm not saying that Crockett county is going to upset Haywood County but I certainly think that the potential is there if  Haywood doesn't come to play ball.

My question,

How will Haywood play with there best player out? The UT commit D. Williamson. I can tell you first hand that he is a stud. He made plays all over the field for Haywood when we played them.

Also, I REALLY REALLY hate to hear that he got hurt. I talked to several folks from tomcat country that said he was a good kid and was a pleasure to be around.

Will that cats rally around him and play hard or will they lay down and lick their wounds?

I wish the young man a speedy recovery.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
