Ask DB.  This stuff is always coaching but nobody will go against the good ole boys that run the program.  Stand up to them or just wait until the leader retires like DB did.  Very sad and hurts a lot of kids.

So who are a list guys you like to see take over the Smokey bears... is there a coach on staff that could get it done or do they look to Meadows at carter or Rang at GP. Or could they come into Knoxville and take a coach.

Rang would certainly be a good option. GP has improved a lot since he got there in 2017. They are bludgeoning the teams that they should, and you have to wonder how much more he can accomplish in the short term. He did an outstanding job in his 3 seasons at Dresden. The team he had in 2016 was incredible, I don't think they had a close game all season. And after Matt Lowe's departure from Powell, he unexpectedly took them to the state semifinals in his one season as HC. When you include his years as West's DC, he's been successful everywhere he's been.

I'd be surprised if the powers that be at the Sevier County School District brings back the coach at Carter.  

Rang would be a great choice, but I freely admit that I am very biased.  He's a friend and a guy I would pull for to get that job.  

In spite of their recent on the field troubles, that's still a very good job.  There will be no shortage of applicants for the job when/if it opens up.

Freely admit I have seen Sevier County this year, but it looks like they suffer the same problems other East TN programs do, they put all the emphasis on the offensive side of the ball. It works when you have a special talent like Deuce Wallace but it gets ugly once the talent runs dry. Ask Siegel, they ran their program much like SC has and they're looking at a total top to bottom rebuild once they hire a new coach.

HTV you may be biased, but you know your football. Rang would be an excellent choice for just about any program. His track record at Dresden and now G-P is testament to that

Derek is primarily a defensive minded coach, although he's done a good job of learning offensive schemes,  too. But he based the foundation of his rep as the DC of those hard nosed defensive West teams.

I played for the Smoky Bears in the early 90's before coach Brewer arrived, and I have a strong sense of Purple Pride! I am very close to the program and haven't missed many games in several years. What is happening to this program is EMBARRASSING! The problem isn't with the players, it is LINGO! These players have competed for championships all through youth league and middle school. They have been winners with every coach except LINGO! The problem isn't X's & O's necessarily (except defense)... The leadership is lacking. The accountability is lacking. The discipline is non existent. Lingo has belittled, berated, and insulted these kids so much that they have no respect for him anymore and don't want to play for him.

Some coaches regularly miss practice. Some coaches are never there during summer weights and conditioning. Also, lets remember his off season staff reshuffling! He brought in the "de-facto" head coach in waiting from Northview and named him the defensive coordinator. Even though we had co-defensive coordinators by title, everybody close to the program knows who actually ran the defense and it wasn't the POLITICIAN! That decision costed us our best defensive coach and our best player to leave the program. Lets see how Lingo's defensive shakeup has worked out...

Jeff County = 53 points (Most points they have scored in a game)

Heritage = 24 points ( Most points they have scored in a game)

Central = 55 points (Most points they have scored in a game)

South Doyle = 60 points (Don't feel bad, they have also scored 61 & 62 points this year)

William Blount = 51 points ( Most points they have scored in a game)

Gibbs = 55 points (Thanks, Lenoir City they gave up 56 points)

Morristown East = 21 points ( YAY, offense sucked that game)

SEYMOUR = 41 points (OBVIOUSLY MOST POINTS THEY HAVE SCORED)

Thats an average of giving up 45 points per game!! (5 of the 8 teams have scored season highs agains SC defense) 

As you can see, the head coaches decision making, lack of leadership, lack of discipline, and lack of accountability is why we are taking a nose dive! Take from this what you want, but these PLAYERS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM! They play with great effort, emotion, and heart! They are just lacking the other intangibles that the head coach is supposed to provide! Good luck to the future and GO SMOKY BEARS!

Jackie’s list is the only list that matters
