Waited and waited and this still wasn't any easier. Eight very good teams here. I started writing this last night, and it looks like WilsonJr1990 and I independently came up with the same predictions — aside from the championship game score. To that end, I'm taking the over.

All four quarterfinal games will be streaming live online, both audio and video. However, an NFHS paid subscription is required for three of them. Local TV in Nashville (Channel 30) has Shelbyville/Beech. Not sure about other markets, or audio-only streams that some schools may provide.

The MBA stream is already live.

MBA at Baylor (MBA version -- FREE)

Christian Brothers at McCallie (NFHS)

Knoxville Catholic at Memphis University School (NFHS)
https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/memphis-university-school-memphis-tn/gam1a791857ab

Ensworth at Briarcrest (NFHS)
https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/briarcrest-christian-school-eads-tn/gamd3df40df67

And now, on with the predictions.

Quarterfinals
E1 McCallie over W4 CBHS
-CBHS has a great defense, but McCallie's prolific rushing game is exceptionally difficult to bottle up for the duration of a game.  CBHS' best hope is a strong performance from senior RB Al Wooten. Take advantage of the 40 second play clock, limit possessions with a run-heavy approach, minimize turnovers, and give yourself a chance to win it in the fourth quarter.

W2 Briarcrest over E3 Ensworth
-Briarcrest's exceptional run defense will force the Tigers to throw. If Briarcrest punts to Keshawn Lawrence, they will get what they deserve. Not advisable at all. One week after containing McCallie's prolific offense, the Tigers will be tasked with stopping a similarly successful rushing game from the Saints. Can Ensworth contain Ole Miss verbal commit RB Jabari Small?

W1 MUS over E4 Knox Catholic
A big win at Briarcrest two weeks ago gave MUS a home game. Had they lost, MUS would've been looking at a long trip to Chattanooga as the W3 seed. MUS has a stout defense, particularly against the run, and Catholic might have to lean on sophomore QB Kaden Martin to get a tough win on the road. Not an easy task.

E2 Baylor over W3 MBA
After torrential rain bogged down their regular-season meeting, the playoff rematch down in Chattanooga should be interesting. The Big Red are probably the best 6-4 team in the state, but Baylor RB Elijah Howard under more normal conditions is going to be a much bigger problem IMO.

Semifinals
E1 McCallie over W2 Briarcrest
While the Saints have an excellent run defense, McCallie is very adept at running outside the tackles. DeAngelo Hardy runs the Blue Tornado option exceptionally well. He's highly elusive, plus he's an accurate passer.

E2 Baylor over W1 MUS
A long trip for Baylor, and MUS' run defense versus Baylor RB Elijah Howard would be an intriguing matchup.

Championship Game
E2 Baylor 34, E1 McCallie 28
Baylor gets revenge on McCallie , the only team to beat Baylor this season.

got 3 pickers with McCallie and Baylor in the Gold Ball contest.....

3 of the 4 games were very competitive.

JRB knew there would be upsets based on the unpredictable regular season...he just chose the wrong upsets.  First round is on me as long as you boys aren't drinking fancy beer ;)

I'm still trying to figure out is this the worst MBA team in school history? This is what we was told in the beginning of the season.

I think they have the same issue as CPA....Graduated a lot of players and now have a lot of young players.  They will be dangerous as always for the foreseeable future!  I still think they make it to Cookeville...it just won’t be against Briarcrest.

And like CPA, MBA has one of the better coaches in the area.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
