This is shaping up to be a really solid Region Tournament especially since Creek Wood was upset in 11aa. It means the Community/Nolensville loser will have their hands full Saturday Night.

Does anyone know anything about Stewart Co.? I have believed all season Community is ripe for an upset in the region tourney.

Stewart County went 0-6 in 6 games against Creek Wood and Hickman County.  5 of those 6 games were highly competitive.  They split the season series against Fairview.  In 2 of the 3 games against Creek Wood they had second half leads of 20 and 12 and lost both games.  They are one of the better coached teams that you'd ever find.  The District MVP is on their roster.  They are a very scary #4 seed for anyone in the Regionals.

Creek Wood is a nightmare matchup as the #3 seed.  They won the regular season title and have a loaded roster with lots of depth and experience.  They are good enough to beat anyone in the Regionals.  They will have a chip on their shoulder after not winning the District Tournament.  Tough draw for a higher seeded team on Saturday night.

Hickman County has won more games on the season than any other team in the district.  They are a very VERY good defensive basketball team and offensively they have a big man who is good around the rim.  They are extremely well coached.  Playing at home as the #2 seed is a huge advantage for them.

Wow, would it be fair to say that the Nolensville/Creekwood winner was a shocker?  Creekwood won their regular season title so what will be the #4 time of them and Fairview locking horns?

What about the Hickman Co/Central Magnet winner? Is that a shocker? Sounds like this game was a defensive slugfest! 48-47???? Or is it 2 teams that struggle to score?

Sounds like it is Community's to win in the round 4 game with Central Magnet.

Hickman is a defense first team. Their season scores show that. But I have never seen a more confused officiating. From a ref talking to the crowd during the game for explaining a call he made (unprofessionally). And 3-4 calls from one ref being over turned by the other two refs. Then at the end of the game the refs stood on the floor for atleast 30secs looking at each other to see if one of them was going to call a foul, which there should have been in my opinion. Our AD pretty much had to force them to leave the court and go to their locker rooms. I’m not saying that cost us the game because we did make silly turnovers but I just expect better officiating during tournament play.

Congratulations to Community! Some called for upsets (and they had a point, perhaps), but Community proved the doubters wrong with a thorough beatdown tonight in the championship. East and Pearl are both great teams, but the Vikings will be a tremendously difficult out in their home gym with their huge base of fan support. All credit to one of the smallest AA schools managing to go 32-1.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
