Sorry Croppy, but the fillies fouled on at least 75% of their possessions, loretto may have had a foul that could have been called on 25% of their possessions.

To put this in perspective.  We were out there playing two hand touch while your girls were playing tackle.

Play with what the refs will let you get away with.  That's an understandable approach, and I can't fault your coach one bit for being extremely rough because it definitely hampered Karly offensively (she balled out on defense).  And not just the blatant blows to the face and shoves, she was held on almost every play.  She tried to break away and 22/23 wrapped her hip or held her Jersey 80% of the time.  All of our girls did a great job contributing on offense (although our 3 point shooting was off), but the officials were a travesty, and your assessment of the game is way off.  Our girls know how to play defense.  We also have a lot of height top to bottom that caused y'all problems.  I understand you're supporting your home team.  And I'll look at these past two posts as that, and disregard your obvious altered state of reality during the game.

Agree! Loretto is  far superior in talent to the Fillies.. Huntington was obviously using the “they can’t call every foul” strategy in this game!  Can’t fault you for trying, but the better team won!

I agree Loretto is for sure the better team, but I've seen a number of games this year that was much more physical than this game where their were a lot less fouls called. Girls basketball has become a very physical game and the refs have caused it. Personally I think the game should be called much closer than it is now. Officials have allowed full body contact all year in our part of the state.

In Murfreesboro they will call it tough. They won’t let the physical stuff go. Call a ton of charges up there too.

I'm back with you on this one Croppy.  I think the refs cause this problem  Coaches or most of them want their players to play physical but clean.  Some kids don't understand what that means and go overboard.  This is were the  refs should clean up the play during the game.  The players will learn or they will be on the bench with fouls troubles.  I'm not sure why refs are letting this type of play go on during the games. Good post!

If the D2 games are any indication looks like some of the fans better toughen up. Those refs were letting them go. Basketball is evolving and girls are starting to play like the boys and making it more physical. Makes for some great ball playing!

I watched the D2 games and I seen clean basketball with good officiating. Didn’t see a lot of hand checking, body contact  slapping and fouling that has been let go all year in West TN.

Disagree here.  Hand checking called on Thurs but not on Sat.  You better be tough if you want a gold ball!

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
