Bearden football has Covid19 positive players?

There is a report on Twitter that Bearden HS football has sick football players and they are still practicing. Rumor, cover up, or facts. Who do they play in game one. And has KCS or any Knoxville media reported on it or informed parents, students, or staff of BHS. Games and school start soon. Is this the beginning of a bigger problem both on and off the football field.

You are welcome. WBIR has now confirmed it also.

What l don't understand is the time line on this story. Someone on Twitter reports it and says Bearden is still practicing. Some people refute that BHS has positive cases and its OK to practice. Then a letter to BHS football parents/family from some women named Saylors is on Twitter that everything is ok BHS has taken the safety measures/protocols to ensure no one associated with BHS football has Covid19 and the virus is contained/not a threat. Then all is well because of the letter and next thing you know a two week shut down. What is the truth. Are the inmates in charge of the isilum? Is this kind of crazy going on all over Knox county schools? Who really knows?

Is BigTime1950 the same disgruntled former bulldog that always has a "bone" to pick?

Well if you want to call not taking the correct safety precautions when dealing with a pandemic and the potential chronic illness/death involved with Covid19 picking a bone you just go ahead. Maybe your the one making those recless decisions to keep going full speed ahead and sending out letters to calm everyone's fears when the house in on fire with everyone still in it.

It's not much of a conspiracy and this time line is wrong.

The twitter report came on 8-15 at 7:17 pm. There were claims of  cover-up in the tweet by @centralmorgan .

The same tweeter shared an email from the Principal, Debbie Sayers, from 8-13 at 2:25 pm that informed parents of 2 covid cases associated with the football team.  The email also said that Bearden had been in contact with KCS and KCHD. It appears at that point they planned to continue practicing on Monday.

It's pretty clear that they learned of more exposures over the weekend and changed their mind about how to proceed.  I'm actually pleased that their first inclination wasn't just to shut everything down.  I'm also pleased that when they had more information that concerned them, they took action.

I will say, like always, the "Tweeter" was pretty irresponsible with their accusations.

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
