Just realized this am if Forrest loses to Summertown we will be the 3 seed and will have to travel to Waverly or Riverside.

Loretto strikes first at the 7:43 mark of the 2nd with a 30 yard FG to take a 3-0 lead against the blue and white Eagles.

Loretto with a 4th down TD throw from the 17 with 24 seconds left in the half with the XP following to take a 10-0 lead. Summertown ends the half down double digits.

End of the 3rd and still 10-0 in Loretto. Summertown seems to have a little momentum with 2 consecutive turnovers by Loretto.  Fourth quarter of the Pegasus Cup will start with Summertown with the ball and a 1st down.

Summertown opens the 4th continuing the momentum that began in the 3rd with the 2nd interception and takes the ball into the end zone along with the following PAT to make it 10-7 early in the 4th.

A serious bad set of downs from Summertown might have cost them the game. The scenario has ended with an intentional safety from Colton Schaeffer to give Loretto a 12-7 lead with 2:40 to play and Summertown kicking to Loretto.

Summertown ended up with a 4th and 15 at the 1 foot mark. Rather than punt, Summertown takes a safety. Loretto ends up with the ball at their own 40. They have since gotten a first down with approximately 2:20 left to play.

Loretto with a HUGE upset over Summertown in the Pegasus Cup. The Mustangs simply make fewer mistakes in a very tough defensive ballgame. Congrats to Loretto on the 12-7 rivalry victory. Summertown will now have to regroup and see if they can pull themselves back up into the hunted role for a home game in the playoffs.

We are ready for week 7 and things have really taken an unpredictable turn. One of the biggest surprises to this point must be the assurgent of Forrest as a candidate for Region Champ at 2-0. With big wins over Eagleville and Loretto. In a close 2nd is the collapse of Summertown at 0-2 with losses to Loretto and Lewis Co.

*This week the big game is 4-2 Forrest vs 3-3 Summertown. The winner of this game will have the inside track to, no worst than, 2nd place in the region and hosting a playoff game. Last week Forrest beat 4A Lawrence 21-20 in a slugfest while ST lost to in county rival 12-7. It’s hard to read too much into that game because historically records go out the window when these two plays. The overall record between them is 3-3. Look for ST who has lost 3 straight to come out blazing and Forrest to play good defense. Forrest needs this to be a boring game with some turnovers. If there’s a shootout then ST would gain the advantage.

*The 2nd next game biggest game is 6-0 Lewis Co traveling to 2-4 Eagleville. LC is chasing a Reg. title while EV is trying to stay in the playoff hunt. While EV has not beaten LC 5 attempts the last 3 has been decided by a TD. This game could be very competitive, especially early.

*3-2 Loretto is coming off a big upset win against ST and looks to gain more momentum as they travel to 1-5 Community. Loretto is very much in contention for a playoff spot and although unlikely, they are still in position for a region championship.  If Loretto has taken that next step as a  this game should be a sleeper.
