Region 5AA 2020

If that is the case and they have to forfeit a 2nd game as other teams have, that puts a nail in their coffin. That would leave them having to forfeit vs Eagleville, thus leaving Summertown with only 1 possible region win max. That would be against Community last week of the season. It would also set Eagleville at 2 region wins and in a tie with Loretto for 3rd and they play last week of the season and would determine 3rd and 4th in the region.

Bye week is here. All Region 5AA teams are off except for Loretto who plays at Mt Pleasant. The playoff picture is starting to take shape with 5 teams still in the hunt for the 4 playoff spots. Barring any major upsets, it appears that Forrest (5-2 and 3-0) and Lewis Co (7-0 & 3-0) are playing for 1st and 2nd place on the last game of the regular season. ST (3-4 & 0-3), EV (2-5 & 1-2) and Loretto (4-2 & 2-1) are playing for the last 2 spots. Loretto controls their own destiny with games against LC and EV. If they beat EV that would give them 3 region wins and assuring them of 3rd place. If EV wins against ST and Loretto then they would finish 3rd. If EV Beats ST they would finish no lower that 4th. If Summertown beats EV and Community then they would finish 4th. all this speculation is assuming that ST will get to play next week.

Bad loss for Loretto 27-20 to Mt Pleasant. While talented, Mt Pleasant is not a very good team. The 27 points was the most points that  MP has scored this year. Loretto seems to be well coached and organized especially compared to MP. If LC plays ball it going to be tough for Loretto.

As we enter the 8th week there is still a lot of questions to be answered about playoffs and seeding. Five teams are still alive for the playoff hunt, but that could change dramatically after this week.

* (2-5 1-2) Eagleville at (3-4 0-3) Summertown is the biggest game of the week as far as playoff implications. If ST losses, they are out if they win and win at Community then they would most likely secure the 4th seed. If EV wins and then wins at Loretto they could jump to the 3rd seed. If healthy ST probably has the advantage on the offensive side of the ball while EV should have the edge of the defensive side.

*(5-2 3-0) Forrest basically has a bye this week in (1-6 0-3) Community. They should be heavily favored in the next two game to improve to 7 wins going into the season final at Lewis Co. This is a knock the rust off game for Forrest.

* (7-0 3-0) Lewis Co at (4-3 2-1) Loretto in the 70th game of the series. Loretto was riding the momentum on an upward serge and was caught napping at MP. Look for them to play better against their old rival. The EV game on the last week of the season will go a long way in determining where Loretto will be seeded for the playoffs.
