....and so is the Friday Main Event!   Appreciate all the folks who tune in each week.   We are up against college and pro football now, so our numbers dropped some last week.   Still appreciate you diehard high school fans who've stayed with us!   Great lineup this week and some really big games to discuss.   If you're new to The Friday Main Event, we host a 2 hour preview show each Thursday at 6:00 PM.   We discuss the 25 biggest games across the state for the week and interview Coaches Statewide!  We'd appreciate you clicking our YOUTUBE CHANNEL link and subscribing to the show.   I grew up a huge Happy Days fan so if you'd pull an Author Fonzarelli (The Fonz) and hit the "thumbs up", button for the broadcasts, that would be great as well!   Here is the lineup of Coaches we'll have for this Thursday:

6:30 - South Doyle Head Coach Clark Duncan

6:45 - Moore County Head Coach Kris White

7:00 - Mt. Juliet Head Coach Trey Perry

7:15 - Haywood Head Coach Chris Smith

All times are Central and again, appreciate the patronage.  We welcome "LIVE CHAT" participation during each show.   As we pick games, you guys jump in and pick them along with us.   I've got a poll up on Twitter at TennesseeSports if you'd take the time to navigate there and submit your vote for the games.   Here is a direct link to our show this Thursday:

I like your thread title "Football is STILL ALIVE in week 5". There were prominent nay-sayers before the season opened who thought that it could not happen because of the pandemic. You had big school systems in Nashville and Memphis refusing to allow kids to play. Thankfully, Metro Nashville has now relented, from what I hear.

Aside from an isolated school here or there, high schools are apparently playing successfully with no big Covid-19 outbreaks. Our TSSAA schools could show the PAC 12 and the Big 10 a thing or two.

Yes sir!  I think the "Contact Tracing" the socialist government bodies have implemented is responsible for more missed games than anyone actually having the virus.   These idiots have a 14 day mandatory quarantine as if we we're in a small pox pandemic in 1847!

IF they had an ounce of common sense, they'd revise that mandate to state 2 negative tests in a 96 hour window would bypass a 14 day quarantee... But hey, what do I know??

Hey Mike,

I just tried DM’ing you on Twitter again the things I tried to before. My account had been private so I made it public thinking that’s why you didn’t get them before.

Love the show. Interested to hear the Haywood coach this week.

We're good now, brother!  Appreciate the great info you passed on.

    • That was after the 2nd year of a 4 year cycle.  Since Covid we have been on a 2 year cycle.  So, there really isn't a "mid cycle" reclassification this time.   Idk if there's anything in place to address the issue of a school closing.  My guess is, nothing can be done.  This would be akin to the 1st year of a 4 year cycle, where a school has the 20% +/- but not allowed or even have the option to move up or down.
    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
