Landers vs Rangers for a TITLE???

I've been a fly on the wall here for a long time, but I figure that now was as good a time as any to make my first post. I have seen both teams play and feel like each team has advantages on both sides of the ball. The rangers have some pretty good skill players out wide and in the back end of the defense. Like always Cloudland is TOUGH up front and in the run game (from the game I saw). They both played HV tough for a 1/2 (Cloudland in the first half and Unaka in the second). For the first time in a long time this could be a high(ish) scoring game from a team on the rise and the long time king of the mountain. It's a big one because the winner will more than likely get the region crown and the looser will probably get to host Greenback. I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts on this one.

Landers win buy a few scores.Unaka does have some good skill position players.

Haven’t seen Cloudland this year outside of box scores and word out mouth. I think Cloudland is at least two touchdowns better right now. Unaka may have closed the gap a little closer than some of the Lander faithful may like to admit. Regardless of outcome though will enjoy the seeing two  Carter County teams fight for our region title, hope we keep it that way going forward.

Agree, should be a fairly competitive game.

I’ve not posted in a long while. Hope you’re doing well Pujo. Idk if they final score will look competitive or not, like I said I haven’t seen the Landers this year they may run away with it. Just making a judgement based off Unaka. I think the best team we’ve seen was Claiborne thus far, we actually moved the ball okay on them just couldn’t punch it in more than once when we got down there. Could see a similar situation with Cloudland as I think they will best Unaka at the line of scrimmage. I think Unaka can find a way to score a couple times, but I don’t know that they can hold the Landers under 30.

Hope you are doing well also, agree with you're assessment 100 percent. You have one of my favorite kids in the County, I've known him since he was very young, heck of a ball player as well.

Hey creeker, I think Unaka may move the ball on em for a half, but see them having trouble punching it in for scores against Cland. I think the game will be fun to watch but score looks lopsided in the end.

I think we will need to score off of chunk plays. Like I mentioned against Claiborne, we got to the red zone a few times but once we didn’t have as much room to spread the field we couldn’t get it in the end zone. I think we will run into that issue with Cloudlands line as well if we get down there. We just don’t have the means to pound it in near the goal line.

Id be throwing bombs from the 50, in then Lol! It'll be difficult to do much in the red zone, but you just might squeak a couple in, never know.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
