If y’all can make #1 somehow be mediocre or have a below average game I think Dogs win convincingly...maybe 14-21 points. If #1 plays his normal game I think it’s really close. He’s a difference maker for the Rebels for sure. They will go where he takes em.

old24eagle you were right. #1 had a normal game came down to the last seconds.

Hampton isn't one dimensional. For some reason,  they were conservative with the plays. Conor can throw the football.

Being one dimensional on offense and the QB having a good throwing arm are two different things.  I never said he couldn’t throw the football.  Yes, I agree 100% he can throw the football good and he was pretty accurate based on what I saw.  SG’s secondary was probably better than what they had previously faced and maybe that’s why the coach was conservative in the passing game?  Who really knows?  Either way in a big game like this you can’t be conservative or your next big game.  You gotta let the dogs loose :thumb:

Not sure where to start, so I am just going to let it flow.  I may not be liked anymore after my comments, but I can live with that.  I mean no disrespect to anyone, and I love you all.

Starting with the Refs & penalties -  The refs missed a few calls and also questionable calls for both; it was a wash and balanced out on both sides and I did not favor either team.  I watched the game Friday night after the Greeneville game, and then again yesterday.  I could name the calls, the qtr, and the time of the calls, but none of them is what WON or LOST this game. Refereeing is not as easy it sounds and looks. In most case I am thankful we have them.  However, there have been a few times I wanted to come off the sideline & the stands due to a bad call or a no call for something that was clearly obvious.  Being on the field vs the stands or watching on a screen, everyone is going to see a different view.  You have 22 players on the field and 5 to 7 Refs so it's gotta be a challenge, and to see every little thing is nearly impossible and there is always going to be a call that someone is not going to agree with.

The Game - What an awesome game.  I remember about 20 or So some pages back in this topic I had said special teams would play an important roll in this game and boy did it.  The kickoff return for 6 by SG did indeed help, but overall South Greene is the better team and that's why they Won. Don't get me wrong, Hampton is a great football team and whoever plays them in the playoffs is going to have their hands full.

Hampton -  Oline big and QB can run the ball.  Impressed with #4, 23, & 24.  Defense is good,  Overall a solid team and very well coached.  Achilles hill - too one dimensional on offense; on defense the pass rush and coverage.   Moving forward- You have the coaching, talent and toughness.  Speed may be a factor?? In order for this team to make it to the semis or further they will need to be more balanced on the offense, and pass rush/coverage will need to improve and have almost flawless play.

South Greene - Balanced on the offense .  Defense is good.  Overall a solid scrappy team. Coaching is better and you can tell this is a tight knit team.  There's something that stands out about this SG team and it is a silent confidence.  The coaching staff never panicked and neither did the players.  Coach Jones-I love the emotion he showed after the game in the TV post interview.  You can tell he loves SG and his players and he knows they has something special going with this team.  I believe the sky is the limit for this team, but they must stay focused on the task at hand and that is the next team up.  This is a young and talented team and their going to continue to get better and stronger. The naysayers, sceptics I know will man-up when the time comes and it will come.

I hope everyone has blessed week.

Watched the game.Refs were fine mixed calls on both.Thought SG was the overall better team.Hampton needs to play better teams to work on their undisciplined play.If you lose big ball games consistently with leads that is usually the problem.Dont get on the stripes get on the coach and schedule teams your not supposed to beat.Sure it hurts your win/loss record but will win you a playoffgame!

Agree with you, playing bad teams will not get you ready to play good competition . I felt like the Bulldogs ran out of gas last 5 minutes.  Overall Hampton solid football team.

SG's best offense and really only offense was Myers scrambling around and making plays. That is what makes them so dangerous, just when you think they are stopped, he takes off and does what he does.

According to coahchT's strength of schedule, Hampton is at 12 and SG is at 38. Not sure how they exactly get these rankings but Hampton has played some pretty decent competition from what I have seen. A lot of bigger schools will not schedule them because they think its a "lose - lose" scenario. I am glad that NET has some competitive teams in the lower divisions. These two should be battling for years to come, both middle school teams are having great years from what I have seen.

We're not consistently doing that...Only at SG every other year.  Guess they've got our number down there huh? Concerning schedule, see post below

Good Post.

Have to love the Myers kid.

Yea, decline after decline every two years. Doing the game schedule here is a nightmare... and other than the GP game we schedule, I see no need for us to travel 2+ hours to play a non-conf game...I know ya know but Some of our scheduling has to do with bringing in a decent gate from local attendance, not trying to play easy games. Need a lil $$$ ya know. And, you really can't dog Hampton's schedule when looking at other program's schedules in this conference. We've played GP, JC, our conf schedule for years. Even had David Crockett a couple years...THAT really helped us ...Usually comes down to who's on the field more than who you've played (2015,16 are good examples of that).

Hampton plays like mtn heritage ,heritage is Hampton on steroids.

Hampton doesn’t have to travel 2hrs away to play some good teams. If you think that about Mtn Heritage you should see Hibriten in Lenoir. Hibriten isn’t as good as they were but still a solid team.

Hibriten was bad last year, but they do have athletes. Best team from tenn I have seen play was that west Knoxville team, that had guy they went to Georgia tech,  that Greenville team couple years ago was strong.
