II-AAA playoff picture

There were some exciting games tonight. MBA's two-point conversion win at Christian Brothers happened on a late drive that included a fourth-down conversion. BA and Baylor went down to the wire in Chattanooga, but BA got the win. Eagles finish the 2020 regular season unbeaten. MUS had a furious 4th quarter rally to beat Briarcrest.

If MBA beats St. Benedict on 11/6, this appears to be the playoff order for Division II-AAA. Christian Brothers plays at Briarcrest as well on 11/6, but that appears to only be a factor if MBA loses.

II-AAA East
1. Brentwood Acad. (5-0)
2. Father Ryan (3-2)
3. McCallie (3-2)
4. Baylor (2-3)

II-West
1. MBA (3-1)
2. CBHS (3-1)
3. MUS (3-2)
4. JPII (3-2)

Which would mean these quarterfinal matchups on 11/13:

W4 JPII at E1 BA
W3 MUS at E2 Father Ryan
E3 McCallie at W2 CBHS
E4 Baylor at W1 MBA

Give me:

JP2 for the upset

Ryan over MUS

CBHS over McCallie

MBA over Baylor....struggle with this one after the way both played BA.  I should take Baylor based on that, but I don’t see MBA with a 1st rd exit.

McCallie can give CBHS a run for its money, especially since Rivers could potentially be back for that one. Ought to be like the Ensworth game last night.

According to what Lou posted above, the game wouldn't matter because it is unlikely that MBA loses.  Like the Ryan/Knox Cath game,..

SBA is quite bad so i do not see MBA losing.  What is the order of tie breakers, head to head then overall wins?

Here's the playoff tiebreaker per the TSSAA after head-to-head.

-----
https://cms-files.tssaa.org/documents/tssaa/sports-regulations/2020-21/2020-21FootballRegulations.pdf

The following tie-breaking procedures shall be applied and all regular-season games, both region and non-region, shall count (After each of the following steps have been applied, item C above shall be applied.):
1. The team with the greatest number of victories.
2. The team who plays the greatest number of teams who win 50 percent or more of their games.
3. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams winning 50 percent or more of their games.
4. The team whose opponents have earned the most victories.
5. The team whose opponents have received fewer defeats.
6. Coin Flip

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
