Out of curiousity... how many rushing attempts and rushing yards did Powell have last night?

I knew powell was in trouble this year when the upside down reversed visor was not on the sideline rocket scientist.

As good as those Powell teams with Mobley and McPhetridge were offensively, it was their defense that made them special, and especially the defensive linemen and linebackers those teams had.  Those guys were just solid all the way around.  No D1 type starts, but all of them could play and for the most part they two platooned and only played on the defensive side of the football.  

Matt is a good coach, and he's not stupid.  He sees where his team needs to improve.  I have to believe that a lot of offseason work will be done on the defensive side of the football.  

And the Potts hate here just baffles me.  The kid had a great year - he's a semifinalist for Mr. Football as a sophomore, for goodness sakes.  He's still got half of his high school football career left.  He's a talented kid and he'll get better at making decisions.  

And for the record, I wasn't really surprised at last night's loss.  I felt all along that Powell played it's best football early on in the season, and even then they had to have some really good breaks go their way to beat both Beech and AC.  Sometimes you get breaks, sometimes you don't.  The 4 turnovers in the first half at Oak Ridge was the biggest culprit, IMO.  That meant the difference in having to go on the road in the first round vs. playing at home, and make no mistake, playing at home in the playoffs is huge.  

In any event, not as Matt and his team would have hoped to finish, but it is what it is.  Cudos to Walker Valley.  The last time Powell and WV played in the playoffs is was a Powell blowout.  WV has come a long way.

At the half, they had 100 yards on a dozen carries. Brown and Stockton were averaging over 10 yards per carry in the 3rd qtr, but I didn't catch the final numbers.

Powell been living on edge all year.. Beech and AC had them beat and couldn't close .. but they are young at skill spots with a ton of play making ability  .. they will be in the thick of things for immediate future as long as JJ stats there ..

They did get some pressure, but WV dbs are fast and well coached.

I haven't seen WV at all.  You think West will struggle with their speed?  I still can't believe they beat Powell.

Are you referring to their speed overall or just at DB? I’ll say this, I’ll take WV’s passing D against any passing attack in 5A.
 

Powell is not coached well from what I witnessed, which was evident by the amount of careless penalties. They had more athletes for sure.
