They did just seems different  then how it used to be  ill always miss the englewood  rams feeder program

I get it!  I understand both arguments.  I was on the side of merging when Pineknot and Dalton played for the simple reason, I felt the teams we were playing at Englewood were not that strong.  I also understood that in order for them to get better they needed to play better competition.  We played for the Knights two years before Pineknot went back to Englewood for his eighth grade season.  I felt it helped him though.

The other side of it is that Englewood loses the rich tradition of their football program.

I do like the the middle school program.  I think it can be beneficial if ran correctly.

I've wondered that too. Sequoyah  and central are roughly about the same size .  I think central will be better the next two seasons depending on who they pick for a coach. Could you see masingale  taking the Charge as head coach?

Central and Sequoyah are not  that close in size. Central is about middle of AAA, Sequoyah is 5A. Also, Central's last JV game was at Sequoyah and was not close, Central was up around 30 points on the final, just after beating Walker Valley by about 3 TDs. Things were looking bright for the future.

Warren requested to play down (with around 2,000 students!) and was denied, but actually was much more competitive this past season. I am surprised more don't try and play out of region when they've been struggling for some time but since it can foul up the classifications I'm sure the TSSAA doesn't want it too often.

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
