This makes me giggle…..

I am basing this off of what he has been able to do at Powell in 2019, 2020, 2021. If you are active on Twitter, he has a ton of respect from high school and high level college coaches and is always connecting with them. It may not hurt a school to scoop him up because with his connections, he may help their kids get recruited.

I’m not saying he isn’t well respected in the coaching community. I will say it again tho, take away the athletes and he is a mediocre play caller at best. Again, only my opinion….

I am just taking his body of work from 2019-2021 at Powell as the basis for my claims. If you take away any coach's athletes and they will look mediocre.

Defense is irrelevant when you have a strong enough offense that can go the distance and score for score with another team. I have said since the beginning on this thread. I see this being the best coach available... that is known for coaching offense. Also, I do not see a promotion from within with it taking this long to make an announcement.

  I disagree. But, hey! That's what makes the world go round.

From my perch at West High word is that Jones to Bearden is all but a done deal and a solid young QB from another school is transferring in. (The QB part is murky, I was wondering if it was the QB at Fulton) I think what Bearden is waiting on is Powell to finish the season.

Wow, with Jones and a QB they will be tough to compete against!

I do not have much confidence that the hire will be solid.  There are definitely many variables/obstacles in play that other schools or school systems do not worry about as much (like moving non-coaches out of PE).  The current DC did an outstanding job this season.  Not sure about Bradley moving into 6A public school football.  Jones is intriguing.  He seems to have talent wherever he is.

Why no confidence friend? From what I hear on my perch at West high they are working around the staffing issues in a creative way. West doesn't have any PE teachers that don't coach. How many does Bearden have?

I am confused. I didn't realize people taught PE that didn't coach a sport. I am all for schools focusing on academic rigor, and ensuring qualified candidates in the academic setting, but PE should be reserved for coaches. Period. Does Bearden really have a bunch of PE teachers not coaching? That seems to be the easy solution there...

    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
