Still not a fan of the sectional.  Several region champions that didn't qualify for state.  And before you give me the "cream rises to the top" spill, yes it does.  I'm not talking about them.  I'm talking about the 2-6 spots that are many kids last chance to get on the podium and this is just another roadblock from making that happen.  I don't think that helps us grow at all.

Coach I completely agree with you that there is truly no need in having a sectional.  With the population base in Tennessee and the fact that wrestling is split into three divisions for the boys the sectional is nothing more than a money grab for the TSSAA.  I will also add that if you are only going to have a 16 man bracket the tournament should be conducted in two days not three.

Coach I completely agree with you thatThe definition of T$$AA is moneygrab. that’s all they care about. Even a 2 day tournament is a stretch. it can easily be done in one day just like any other big tournament.  there is truly no need in having a sectional.  With the population base in Tennessee and the fact that wrestling is split into three divisions for the boys the sectional is nothing more than a money grab for the TSSAA.  I will also add that if you are only going to have a 16 man bracket the tournament should be conducted in two days not three.

Didn’t you know? The definition of T$$AA is moneygrab. that’s all they care about. 2 days would be better but even that’s a stretch. 16 man brackets can easily be done in 1 day.

Our sectional felt like an extension of the State Tournament, like a Sub-state I guess.  I will tell you something else I noticed, seemed harder to podium in Division I A this year adding in teams like Munford, Halls, Page, etc. due to the realignment.  I think it will help A get stronger with more competition and hopefully close the overall gap between top to bottom quality in A and AA.   I already see more kids lining up to do more spring/summer work than in years past just to stay competitive and reach their goals of being a state qualifier, placer, or champ.  At first glance, the realignment has seemed to already have a more competitive impact on A.  I'm good with having the sectionals the week before so that we don't have 5 days at the Ag Expo, it brings more attention to the sport locally when you have a big event in town versus somewhere else in the state.

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
