Thursday varsity games released by TSSAA

Who's playing Thursday night football?

CPA at MBA (Thu. 9/8) and Christian Brothers at Briarcrest (Thu. 9/15) are two games that stand out for Division II, though I haven't seen the complete list yet.

As I understand it, every TSSAA school is playing at least one game this season on a Thursday due to a shortage of game officials.

One district game, and my guess is they try to make it one that doesn't involve a lot of travel.

Did the TSSAA ever consider playing some games on Saturday night instead of Thursday.  By playing on Thursday it’s just another late night out for students that must attend school on Friday.

If you look at the document, there are a few games on Saturday.  Saturday is also the day that a majority of the youth football games are played, especially in Middle Tennessee.  The official shortage as at that level also as the youth football assignors I know are scrambling for officials due to the growth of youth football.

If you get in the right click an official can make more $$$ on Saturday than Friday night. Most will say its not about $$ but there would be no officials if they did it for free
