This game will be the first big test from a 3A team for Giles County since Alcoa last year.

Loudon was extremely well coached — maybe the best 3A coaching staff I've seen outside of Alcoa and Giles —  but their talent was down (obviously) from last year. And it showed.

Giles had three turnovers and still won 21-0.

Sweetwater should be a much more talented team, but will they win the coaching battle?

If Giles County cleans up their offensive mistakes from last week, I think it will be close early and we see another one of those second-half surges from GCHS and they win by 10+.

If they don't clean it up? Buckle up.

Honestly this is a good post.  Sweetwaters Coach is a wonderful man and they do have really good athletes.  This Sweetwater bunch is an up and down team.  They have the athletes to hang with Giles, but will Coaching be the difference.  Loudon staff is a phenominal coaching staff, and correctly stated, they are a little down this year.  Keep this in mind, Sweetwater handled Loudon with relative ease.

Alcoa, is a whole different story.  Being from the east, Alcoa is always your state championship game.

I say this will be a good game early, but I give the edge to Giles.

One thing to keep in perspective is that Giles has been playing without their star running back for a few weeks now due to injury. That has meant playing with their backup QB so their starting QB can play RB. Heard that the RB is back and starting tonight. Should greatly improve the weapons on offense for the cats.

Heard nothing but good things about Coach Martin and his staff. Excited to see this Sweetwater bunch up close tonight!

X'Zorion Randolph WILL play tonight for GCHS. The question is — how much? If Giles gets off to a good start, they may not give him many carries.

    • Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.
    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
